PLANO, Texas – EDS today announced that Tony Affuso, president of its PLM Solutions line of business, will open the Fifth Annual Solid Edge Global Summit next month in Orlando, Fla. The keynote address highlights the strategic importance of EDS’ mainstream, value-based computer-aided design (CAD) software system Solid Edge® to the future of design professionals around the world.

Affuso will provide a state-of-the-company update, including the strategic importance of Solid Edge to both EDS PLM Solutions and EDS as a whole. Affuso also will take the opportunity to announce the upcoming release of Solid Edge Version 14, which ships to customers in March. Version 14 extends Solid Edge with the third release of Insight.NET technology, its unique built-in design management capability. The new version also introduces new Rapid Blue advanced shape creation software, which will extend the usefulness of Solid Edge in the consumer products industry. Other significant additions to Solid Edge will be announced at the summit.

"The EDS PLM Solutions commitment to the continued, innovative development of Solid Edge is a central part of the company's dual brand strategy. Together, Solid Edge and Unigraphics® NX provide comprehensive market coverage second to none in the industry," Affuso said. "It’s always great to meet with this vibrant group of Solid Edge users who recognize value and quality. As a result, they are dollar for dollar some of the most productive designers in the world."

Solid Edge users from companies around the world meet Feb. 19-21 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Appropriately themed "Extending the Edge," the summit includes strategic and technical content to increase attendee productivity. On the agenda is hands-on CAD training, how-to sessions, Solid Edge user presentations, product input roundtables, customization classes, a business management conference, keynotes by exciting industry experts, Voyager Program exhibitions, new product test drives and much more.
