Machining STRATEGIST release 5 launched by Vero

Fulfilling a promise to accelerate the development of its machining STRATEGIST software, Vero International Software has launched release 5 of the world leading CAM solution.

Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK - 29 Jan 2003 - Vero acquired machining STRATEGIST last Autumn and with the new Cambridge development team it has become a valuable addition to the VISI-Series suite of CAD/CAM software. Within machining STRATEGIST there is a strong emphasis on ease of use and speed of programming and the new features developed for release 5 will further enhance the products many properties

New features include the direct import of CATIA version 5 files and Parasolid files which makes it much easier for engineers to share information with other CAD systems.

The new zig-zag roughing feature provides an alternative to the existing high-speed spiral roughing in machining STRATEGIST.

"Conventional machining already benefits from the smoothing technology in the software," says Steven Youngs, Vero's Technology Centre Development Director. "Now, with the addition of zig-zag roughing for high material removal rates on conventional machine tools, this function goes a stage further,"

Hole drilling routines have also been introduced into the latest release, making it possible to drill bore and tap holes. The new drilling functions will generate canned cycles for the machine tool, providing CNC codes which the machine operator will be able to understand.

Vero has also improved boundary control enabling boundaries to be merged, offset, intersected and united. The benefit to the user will be that containing the toolpath to the desired areas of the workpiece will be greatly simplified.

Finally, the floating licence capability introduced into release 5 of machining STRATEGIST allows economic use of the software around a network, with use of the software by many engineers located around a factory providing maximum flexibility and improved productivity.
