Hanbury Evans’ 3D Software Upgrade from Avatech Solutions Increases Design EfficienciesArchitectural Design Firm’s Custom ADT Implementation and Training Ensured Rapid Adoption and Productivity Gains
January 29, 2003 — OWINGS MILLS, MD — Avatech Solutions, the nation’s leading provider of design automation tools, training, integration services, and technical support, today announced that Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company (HEWV), a national architectural design firm, has implemented Autodesk® Architectural Desktop (ADT) throughout its firm. Avatech Solutions assisted the design firm with its 3D software design upgrade and provided custom training¾increasing design efficiencies and improving design quality, with minimum downtime and little or no impact to existing project timelines. When HEWV planned to make the transition from 2D to 3D design software, it looked to long-time partner, Avatech Solutions, which performed a thorough needs assessment and recommended Autodesk Architectural Desktop. After implementing a customized version of the software, Avatech experts automated ADT configurations by designing automatic layering and linking user profiles to common configuration files. They also created a custom symbol library and programmed custom macros to enable one-touch plotting. To ensure quick integration with all staff, Avatech delivered a tiered, on-site training program for managers, power users and everyday users. HEWV’s new application is supported via Avatech’s national support center. “We knew we could save time by switching from 2D to 3D software and Avatech Solutions made the transition painless,” said Beau Turner, CAD manager at Hanbury, Evans, Wright, Vlattas + Company. “Avatech’s expert assistance enabled our staff to get up and running very quickly and maintain project deadlines. We can design faster, which gives us much more time to focus on design innovation and produce creative solutions that far exceed our client expectations.” “Our targeted, customized approach ensures easy software upgrades for customers,” said Kevin Austin, AEC Industry Sales Director, at Avatech Solutions. “By delivering on-site training programs to all users tailored to the company’s specific projects, and using current drawing projects to illustrate ADT’s capabilities, HEWV staff experienced no down time and were able to work productively from the beginning. This cost-effective approach enabled projects to move forward and has given designers the ability to collaborate with clients much earlier than was possible before.” About Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company, provides Architecture, Preservation, Planning, Interior and Landscape Design Services throughout the United States.
