SolidDynamics-MI - Powerful, User-friendly Motion Simulation with Full 3D Modeling, Visualization and CAD Data Translation CapabilitiesRoanne - France, January 16th 2003, Solid Dynamics SA, the leading software developer and supplier of 3D Motion Simulation software for design engineers and analysts, today announced the release of their new standalone Motion Simulation software: SolidDynamics-MI. As a result of a worldwide OEM agreement with Autodesk, this product combines the powerful physical Motion Simulation technology from Solid Dynamics with the latest 3D Modeling technology, visualization and data translation capabilities from Autodesk Inventor 6. With SolidDynamics-MI, designers and engineers can use the comprehensive 3D modeling capabilities to design their mechanical assemblies or easily import geometry files from other CAD packages (Catia, Pro-Engineer, UniGraphics, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Inventor etc.) and then perform kinematic and dynamic simulations on these assemblies. SolidDynamics-MI also includes a comprehensive interface with Ansys DesignSpace and other FEA packages that makes it possible to transfer the calculated loading on a part or assembly directly into an FEA study. "We have a long standing history of providing powerful Motion Simulation tools to engineering companies with our existing SolidDynamics, MotionWorks for SolidWorks and MotionInventor for Inventor products. The release of SolidDynamics-MI enables us to provide our technology to companies that use other CAD systems or who require a complete modeling and simulation solution in one product. The beauty of SolidDynamics-MI is that it is powerful, user friendly, has a very high level of functionality, is affordable and above all is based on proven technology from Solid Dynamics and Autodesk." says Fabien Chojnowski, President of Solid Dynamics. "Solid Dynamics is committed to incorporating the very best of its technology in this product. I am confident that users will immediately recognize the great benefits that SolidDynamics-MI can provide to their design processes and products." "Autodesk has been providing its technology under OEM agreements since 1995 to third party developers such as Solid Dynamics for integration into applications that address specific market needs. Solid Dynamics is one of some 100 such partners who have chosen to concentrate their special know how by leaving the CAD to Autodesk and basing their development efforts on already proven technology. Packaging OEM technology "behind" Solid Dynamics' interface is critical to our partner's success in their market" stated Monica Feredjian, OEM Program Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Motion Simulation is an area of engineering that is increasingly being recognized as an essential step in the design process of mechanical assemblies. SolidDynamics-MI enables designers and engineers to quickly and accurately simulate the physical motion of their moving assemblies in a virtual environment. Potential problems can be identified and solved early in the design process. This avoids expensive changes late in the project, reduces the need for physical prototypes, and cuts overall project length. During a simulation SolidDynamics-MI calculates the positions, velocities, accelerations, trajectories, reaction torques and forces of the joints and parts resulting from the motion, gravity and imposed loads. All the variables can be analyzed using the highly interactive graphing tool. SolidDynamics-MI is the culmination of technology developed over the last 10 years, and already used in more than 300 companies including ABB, ASTRIUM, BIC, C-MAC, CNES, EADS, EDF, IVECO, RENAULT, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, as well as a large number of educational establishments worldwide. About Solid Dynamics Solid Dynamics is an established simulation software developer and services provider helping companies worldwide develop better products faster. Solid Dynamics software and services are used to enhance and improve end product design and design processes. The ability to simulate and test software prototypes has enabled manufacturers to design and build products in a more cost effective manner. Simulating product performance reduces development expenses, time to market and warranty costs, positively impacting customer profitability. About Autodesk Founded in 1982, Autodesk, Inc., is the world's leading design software and digital content company. The company serves a diverse portfolio of markets, including building design, geographic information systems, manufacturing, digital media, and wireless data services. By delivering tools that foster innovation and creativity, Autodesk helps customers create, use and leverage their digital design data.
