SolidDynamics-MI -  Powerful, User-friendly Motion Simulation with Full 3D Modeling, Visualization and CAD Data Translation Capabilities

Roanne - France, January 16th 2003, Solid Dynamics SA, the leading software developer and supplier of 3D Motion Simulation software for design engineers and analysts, today announced the release of their new standalone Motion Simulation software: SolidDynamics-MI.

As a result of a worldwide OEM agreement with Autodesk, this product combines the powerful physical Motion Simulation technology from Solid Dynamics with the latest 3D Modeling technology, visualization and data translation capabilities from Autodesk Inventor 6. With SolidDynamics-MI, designers and engineers can use the comprehensive 3D modeling capabilities to design their mechanical assemblies or easily import geometry files from other CAD packages (Catia, Pro-Engineer, UniGraphics, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Inventor etc.) and then perform kinematic and dynamic simulations on these assemblies. SolidDynamics-MI also includes a comprehensive interface with Ansys DesignSpace and other FEA packages that makes it possible to transfer the calculated loading on a part or assembly directly into an FEA study.

Motion Simulation is an area of engineering that is increasingly being recognized as an essential step in the design process of mechanical assemblies. SolidDynamics-MI enables designers and engineers to quickly and accurately simulate the physical motion of their moving assemblies in a virtual environment. Potential problems can be identified and solved early in the design process. This avoids expensive changes late in the project, reduces the need for physical prototypes, and cuts overall project length.

During a simulation SolidDynamics-MI calculates the positions, velocities, accelerations, trajectories, reaction torques and forces of the joints and parts resulting from the motion, gravity and imposed loads. All the variables can be analyzed using the highly interactive graphing tool.
