PROFICIENCY COLLABORATION GATEWAY 2.0 WINS CADENCE MAGAZINE EDITORS' CHOICE AWARDIndustry Accolade Caps Landmark Year for Engineering Collaboration Vendor
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - December 9, 2002 - Proficiency today announced that the Company received a CADENCE magazine Editors' Choice Award for the latest release of its Collaboration Gateway Version 2.0. CADENCE editors continuously monitor CAD-related products and services as they are released and in July and December, the editors select and award products that have represented significant technological innovation in the previous six months. The magazine editors chose CG 2.0 because of its application as a collaboration technology platform for a wide range of product development activities throughout the enterprise. "We are impressed by Proficiency's technology," said Arnie Williams, Editor-in-Chief of CADENCE, "but we also applaud the Company for forging new ground and pushing their technology into areas few other companies have been able to achieve. This is a company and a technology to watch." CG 2.0 was announced in November, and contains a number of enhancements, including a Universal Product Representation (UPR) Viewer: the industry's first viewer that allows CAD and non-CAD users alike to visualize design intelligence -- features, history, reference geometry, and geometric dimension and tolerance (GD&T) information -- independently of their native CAD systems. CG 2.0 also includes facilities for validating the accuracy of an exchange, as well as identifying specific features that caused geometric discrepancies between source and target models due to CAD system differences. The product also generates feature processing "audit logs" that may be archived and transmitted to improve communication between the various constituents in the product lifecycle. "We are pleased to be recognized by CADENCE for the impact our technology will have on the industry," said Scott Berkey, President and CEO of Proficiency. "This award marks the conclusion of a very productive year for us: four product releases, three industry awards, and a number of deployed customers. We look forward to 2003, and building on this favorable momentum." About ProficiencyProficiency is the innovator in engineering collaboration. The Company's Collaboration Gateway allows development teams within manufacturers and their suppliers to efficiently collaborate on the design of complex products. A privately held company headquartered in Marlborough, Mass., Proficiency has secured nearly $40M in venture capital investment led by Concord Ventures, Charles River Ventures, and Carmel Ventures. The Company has numerous patents pending in engineering information representation technology.
