Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community Program Expands Local User Opportunities for Intergraph's North America CustomersNorthern California IGUC chapter is granted charter
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Dec. 3, 2002 - The Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community (IGUC) announced today that it has chartered its first North American local users community, the Northern California Chapter. Joining recently formed chapters in New Zealand and the Netherlands, the California chapter provides local networking and training opportunities for mapping, IT, and GIS users in areas within 150 miles of the cities of San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno, and Redding. The chapter officers are president, Jeff Hobbs from the city of San Jose; vice president, Eric Bayer from Farallon Geographics Inc.; treasurer, Roberto Molina from the city of San Jose; and secretary, Alan Rich from the city of Milpitas. "The chapter has been a good vehicle for fostering a community of Intergraph users," said Jeff Hobbs, president of the new chapter. "Being a part of the user group gives mapping, IT, and GIS professionals tremendous advantages. We share application ideas, including custom commands for GeoMedia(R) technology and G/technology as well as provide input and feedback on Intergraph product direction." Through local chapter activities, such as education seminars, new product demonstrations, and networking events, chapter members can become more skilled on current Intergraph solutions and more knowledgeable about Intergraph's products and interact with peers who share similar interests. Chapter- and IGUC-sponsored local users meetings, GeoForums, offer members local education and training focused on a specific discipline or application area along with business and technical information. Additionally, the chapter provides an avenue for users to communicate with Intergraph technical and product experts on product development initiatives. The Northern California Chapter will hold its next meeting on February 5, 2003 in Livermore. IGUC chapters serve to further unite a growing number of users who are implementing Intergraph solutions in local, regional, and national government; military and intelligence agencies; the transportation industry; and utilities and communications organizations. These solutions include geospatial infrastructure management, land information management, geospatial intelligence, and geospatial data management and cartography. To join IGUC, Intergraph users should complete the application located on the external Web at www.intergraph.com/gis/community/join/default.asp?choice=iguc. For the Northern California Chapter event schedule and proceedings information, visit their Web site at www.fargeo.com/ncgug/. Intergraph GeoSpatial Users CommunityThe mission of the Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community is to further knowledge, product use, and interaction with Intergraph and users worldwide. The IGUC has members from 91 countries and continues to grow. Members can participate in the IGUC Networks, which are forums for users to provide direct comment and feedback about Intergraph's product planning, development, priority, and direction. The Networks are ongoing, mostly virtual gatherings of Intergraph users from around the world who have similar product, project, and/or solutions interests.
