Gibbs and Associates to Deliver Seamless Interoperability Solutions Built on PTC's Granite One

MOORPARK, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, announced today that they have entered into an agreement with PTC (NASDAQ:PMTC), the product development company(TM), to offer a new suite of interoperability capabilities built on PTC's Granite One to GibbsCAM end users. These new capabilities, packaged under the new GibbsCAM Solid Exchange Built on Granite option, allow GibbsCAM customers to directly access Pro/ENGINEER or any other Granite-based CAD system's models as well as adding support for a number of solid model- oriented data formats, such as ISO STEP.

The GibbsCAM Pro/ENGINEER Exchange capability allows users to open a Pro/ENGINEER ".prt" or ".pdt" files directly into GibbsCAM to develop CNC programs for numerically controlled machining. The GibbsCAM STEP Exchange capability allows users to read and machine STEP AP203 and AP214 files.

Once the CAD model data is read, GibbsCAM's powerful, industry-leading ease-of-use capabilities can be used to generate efficient CNC programs for a broad range of CNC machine tools.
