Autodesk Hosts New Online Collaboration Tool for Australian Manufacturing IndustryFacilitates the Sharing of Design Data Across the Extended Manufacturing Team to Improve Product Quality, Reduce Costs, and Shorten Time to Market
Sydney, Australia, 22 October, 2002* Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, today announced the availability of Autodesk Streamline, an online project collaboration service. Built for the manufacturing industry, Autodesk Streamline helps customers improve communication, automate processes, reduce mistakes and shorten time to market. Autodesk Streamline is a hosted service for instantly sharing digital data across the entire extended manufacturing team, including sales, marketing, purchasing, documentation, the shop floor, and suppliers. It is a single-source solution powered by advanced streaming technology that allows users to access design information anywhere, any time without ever downloading a CAD (computer-aided design) file, printing a drawing or opening a CAD package. Every designer and engineer can instantly share the design information contained in CAD files with anyone inside or outside the company. There is no need for the extended team to purchase design software, pay for custom software development, or reengineer business processes. The design data is published to Autodesk Streamline only once, but it can be used over and over by different project members without compromising the integrity of the original data. Each member of the extended design team sees only what they need to see. The procurement specialist, for example, may be interested only in the parts list, while the salesperson may only want to see a 3D assembly. The shop floor worker may only need to see the drawing. The designer, however, may be interested in viewing the complete product structure. Autodesk Streamline allows for quick access to design-related files, even large assemblies, over a standard 56K modem, eliminating the need to spend hours downloading CAD files or printing drawings. Design data is streamed in real time via advanced streaming technology optimised for mechanical design and manufacturing applications. With these capabilities small to mid-sized manufacturing companies can dramatically increase communication efficiency, automate manufacturing processes, eliminate mistakes, and shorten the time to market - all without the complexity and cost of process reengineering such as Product Data Management (PDM) systems and other complex solutions. Moffat Ltd., a New Zealand-based manufacturer of commercial catering and bakery equipment, participated in a pilot trial of Autodesk Streamline and is now using the online collaboration service to share digital design data with team members around the world. "Autodesk Streamline helps manufacturing companies like Moffat, maintain their competitive edge by sharing intelligent design throughout their supply chains and minimising time and geographical barriers," said Andr Pravaz, Autodesk Regional Director. Availability and Pricing Available now on a subscription basis, access to Autodesk Streamline for up to 25 users and 0.5 GB storage space for 12 months is A$14,000 excluding GST. This offer runs until January 2003. Normal pricing for Autodesk Streamline is A$28,000. About Autodesk StreamlineThe Autodesk Streamline service allows users to share CAD file information created in software such as Autodesk Inventor(tm), a high-performance 3D mechanical design software solution. www.autodesk.com.au/streamline About AutodeskFounded in 1982, Autodesk, Inc., is the world's leading design software and digital content company.
