FORT WASHINGTON, Md., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Tooling & Machining Association announced today that it has selected IQS, Inc. as its Member Affinity Program and Special Discounts Partner for ISO 9000 Registration support. There are over 2,300 company memberships nationwide, most with 30 employees or less.

The NTMA was looking for an affordable ISO 9000 solution for these companies and one that would create a strategic partnership to help association members solve particular problems. "We often get questions about what to do and how to become ISO 9000 compliant," indicated Rob Akers, Technology Director for NTMA. "NTMA selected IQS because they are extremely well respected in the industry and because they promote a very pragmatic and business-like approach to ISO registration. The focus is on business competitiveness and profitability -- not just passing the test to get ISO registered. The key selling point to me was that IQS didn't just sell an ISO solution, but rather a business solution which would meet or exceed quality standards."

"IQS understands small businesses. We have created both a Small Business Bundle of software and services and an option for leasing the software on a monthly basis. We understand the NTMA members do not necessarily have IT departments or in some cases, do not employ a full time Quality Manager," stated John Cachat, President of IQS. "We also know that these smaller businesses already have good systems in place and with a little explanation, can plan for and pass ISO 9000 registration very quickly."

ABOUT NTMA

Founded in 1943, the National Tooling & Machining Association is THE premier organization representing the interests of the U.S. precision custom manufacturing industry -- that is, companies engaged in the design and manufacture of special tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gages, special machines and precision machined parts.

The tooling and machining industry is critical to our country's economic health as it makes possible the existence of virtually every other manufacturing industry. Tooling is, in its simplest sense, the means of production. The industry is probably the most technologically-advanced of all small manufacturing activities and enjoys widespread deployment of computer- numerically-controlled (CNC) machines and other computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) techniques.

The industry supplies the necessary precision tooling and machining for such vital industries as defense, automotive, aerospace, appliance, business machines, electronics, agricultural implements, ordnance, transportation, environmental, construction equipment, nuclear, and many more. In point of fact, nearly every manufacturer does business at one time or another with the contract tooling and machining industry.
