CAD Centric Systems Announces PDF Support Extends capability of OneView Professional
Cincinnati, September 16, 2002: CAD Centric Systems, The Document Distribution Company, today announced the immediate availability of PDF read and write from OneView Professional, its popular view and measure application for CAD data. The publishing of PDF files from within OneView has been added as a standard exporting option and will be made available to all current customers of CAD Centric's OneView Professional at no additional charge. In addition to sharing these exported PDF files with others using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, users of OneView can also read these PDF files further extending the file formats supported by the application. As a PDF publishing tool, OneView supports the publishing of PDF data from the following data formats: EDS I-DEAS, CGM, and HPGL. "The use of OneView as a means of generating and reading PDF data offers some exciting options to the normal workflow involving engineering data distribution," commented Doug Dennis, President, CAD Centric Systems. "Now, drawing data can be easily shared with members of the design team in a format that is readily accessible." One of the uses for this capability allows users to markup CAD drawings and then export the drawing along with the markup to a PDF file. These PDF files can then be read back into OneView for additional markups if necessary providing an efficient method of annotating CAD drawings used through the ECO process. In addition, the PDF format provides visibility of the marked up drawing to those outside of engineering. "We believe that there are literally hundreds of applications where engineers, designers, purchasing agents, suppliers, and others want to combine engineering data with additional markup information and use this information as a quick method of communication. OneView with PDF read and export capability provides the tools to make these types of annotations quickly and share them with others," Dennis concluded. CAD Centric Systems, Inc. develops and markets software, which facilitates the interoperability and deployment of information generated by industry standard CAD/CAM systems including those from SDRC, PTC, EDS Unigraphics, Dassault Systemes, and others. CAD Centric's software permits individuals across the enterprise to have direct access to information generated in CAD for viewing, annotation, markup, and use in other applications. CAD Centric Systems is a privately held company.
