Pavilions Provide Comparisons for IMTS Showgoers

Chicago, IL, 04 September/PR Newswire/ -- Buyers of manufacturing technology and related equipment like to compare and contrast machine tools from around the world, as well as their specific capabilities, prices and services. Nearly all of the 1,300,000 square feet of exhibits that make up the International Manufacturing Technology Show, September 4-11, 2002, will be sub-divided into distinct product groupings, called pavilions. These pavilions cover a wide range of manufacturing products and processes and allow the show visitor to spend time at IMTS more efficiently. Attendees like the pavilions because of the timesaving opportunity to make side-by-side comparisons. They are able to go back and forth between suppliers of like products quickly and easily to get all of their questions answered.

Exhibitors whose products fit a pavilion theme benefit because the pavilion is a magnet for customers looking for those particular products. That's where the action is.

Nine distinct pavilions will be featured at IMTS 2002 in Chicago's McCormick Place complex- each a focused "show within the show."

Some 150 companies will participate in the Abrasive Machining / Sawing / Finishing Pavilion (location: North Building--Hall B). This pavilion will include cylindrical grinders, internal grinders, angular wheelside grinders, creep feed grinders, thrufeed grinders, centerless grinders, surface grinders, abrasive belt grinders, jig grinders, CNC tool and cutter grinders, universal grinders, cam grinders, bench, crankshaft and abrasive cutoff machines. Also, band saws, circular saws, lapping machines, balancing machines, honing machines and polishing machines.

The EDM Pavilion (location: Lakeside Center [East Building] -- Hall D) continues to be a popular pavilion at every IMTS. IMTS 2002 will represent a large gathering of Electrical Discharge Machinery and related equipment manufacturers with almost 50 under one roof. Products and technologies on display in the EDM pavilion will include CNC wire EDM, ram type EDM, EDM filtration systems and supplies, metal disintegrators and die sinking machines, and equipment designed to manufacture electrodes.

The specialized field of gear manufacturing is represented by nearly all of the major companies involved in gear production products. Twenty-five manufacturers of gears and related equipment will display gear hobbers, gear shapers, gear cutters, gear shavers, broaching equipment, gear grinding equipment, and gear measuring equipment in the Gear Generation Pavilion (location: North Building--Hall B).

The Machine Components/ Cleaning/Environmental Pavilion (location: Lakeside Center [East Building] -- Hall D) features the newest equipment, machine components, engineering services, environmental protection services and services for air purification, safety guards, mats and equipment. More than 140 companies will exhibit. Also, filtration equipment, water and oil purification, air filtration, oil separation, sump cleaners, noise control equipment, dust removers, electrical equipment, way covers/tracks, storage systems, parts cleaners, parts washers, materials handling/storage equipment, ball screws, bearings, conveyors, AGVs, coatings, servo motors, pumps, degreasers, robotics, plant maintenance equipment, assembly/test equipment, and motion control equipment and environmental management software.

The largest pavilion area (over 600,000 square feet and over 230 exhibitors) at IMTS is devoted to the Metal Cutting Pavilion (locations: South Building--Hall A; North Building--Hall C). The entire South Building, as well as an additional area in the North Building, will feature metal cutting machine tools. IMTS will feature machining centers, turning centers, drilling machines, milling machines and centers, boring machines, transfer machines, screw machines, broaching machines, skiving/trepanning machines/roller burnishing machines, gun drilling machines, planer/mills, boring mills, multiple spindle drills and automatics, drill/mill/bore heads and slides, thread rolling, jig boring/milling machines and knurling machines, VTLs, bar feeds, automation systems, assembly machines, end finishers, machining cells, CNC lathes and Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS).

The Metal Forming & Fabricating/Laser Pavilion (location: North Building--Hall B) at IMTS will showcase all types of presses, plus the latest in laser production and technology. Included in the 161- company pavilion, will be straight side, straightening, OBI and hydraulic presses; waterjet machining systems, CNC turret punch presses, tube and pipe benders, press brakes, roll formers, assembly automation, welding and robotics welding equipment, cold forming and rolling technology, iron workers, headers, spinning machines, wire bending and forming equipment, forming and fabricating systems, foundry/casting equipment, investment casting equipment, flame and plasma cutting, friction welding, stress relief equipment, coil and strip handling equipment and plate benders and robotic systems, die handling equipment, press room equipment and software, press safety equipment, thread rolling equipment and marking equipment. Show visitors will be able to view state-of-the-art laser technology dis played by world leaders in laser machine production and laser technology in manufacturing. They will feature a wide range of applications including laser systems for: cutting, marking, scribing, drilling, cladding, trimming, engraving, welding, heat treating, and laser measuring equipment.

Quality assurance is an integral part of the manufacturing process and of IMTS. Products and services in the Quality Assurance Pavilion (location: Lakeside Center [East Building] -- Hall D) will include precision measuring machines, laser measurement machines, coordinate measuring machines, precision gauging, automated gauging, in-process gauging, tool condition monitoring equipment, measurement software, and quality, control, testing and measuring equipment. Also, comparators, metrology and vision systems. Around 100 exhibitors.

The Tooling & Workholding Systems Pavilion (location: Lakeside Center [East Building] -- Hall E) at IMTS has over 175,000 square feet of tooling solutions, from angle brackets to cutting tools. Over 300 exhibitors will display coolants, oils, cutting fluids, ceramics and composite cutting tools, tool coatings, drills, boring bars, chucks, tools, milling cutters, form cutters, cutting tools and tooling systems, endmills, fixturing systems, gun drilling tools, cutting tool measurement/checking systems, hobs, tool inserts, jigs, key seating tools, ball nose end mills, lapping tools, magnetic chucks and plates, collets, NC tables, spindle adjusters, plates, quick change dies, reaming tools, screw thread inserts, tool storage equipment, deep hole/trepanning cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, tooling columns, universal fixturing, vises, and workholding systems.

The Controls & CAD/CAM Pavilion (location: Lakeside Center [East Building] - - Hall D) combines several technological categories that contribute to improved efficiency in manufacturing operations. Featured in this new pavilion are 70 exhibitors of CIM/CAD/CAM systems, CNC controls, automation management systems, communications systems and LAN, software development systems services, computers and software, instruments/controls and systems integration services.
