Axiom's RefMerge for V8 is Now a MicroStation V8 Reality

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA - August 14, 2002 - Axiom - the world's largest software developer of productivity-enhancing MicroStation utilities - announces the release of RefMerge for V8, the MicroStation V8 utility that merges a design file and its reference files into a single MicroStation file. RefMerge for V8 is one of six utilities that Axiom has released thus far for MicroStation V8.
Output files created by RefMerge look the same as the original master and reference files, but the single output file is easier to manage, transmit or deliver. RefMerge for V8 gives users intimate control over the merging process and the look of the output file. Users can specify exactly how to handle the levels, level symbology, clipping boundaries (and more) of master and reference files to create the exact output needed. Native MicroStation commands do not provide this level of control when merging MicroStation files.
RefMerge for V8 includes the following V8-specific enhancements:
Option to process the active model only or all models, including sheets. Each model is treated as a separate design file.
Ability to merge attached DWG and DXF files.
Ability to merge all elements within live nested reference files. By enabling live nesting, files that are referenced to a reference file display in the master file.
All levels containing elements in the reference files, even when these are not present in the master file, are added to the output file.
The "Place elements on level name" option allows users to place merged elements onto specific named levels, taking advantage of V8's unlimited level capability.
RefMerge for V8 also offers these following key features (available also in the V7 version):
Each merged reference file is properly rotated and clipped.
The user can run RefMerge for V8 on a single design file (and its reference files), on a whole series of design files (and their reference files), or on a list of design files.
The user can select reference files to omit from the merge and can choose to have those files attached as references to the merged file or not.
Graphic group numbers are properly handled so that graphic groups in different files that share the same graphic group number are not merged into a single graphic group. Text node numbers, clipping boundary voids, shared cells and other complexities resulting from merging design files are also handled smoothly.
The user has total control over how level symbology is used during the merging process. The symbology of each element in the output file can be forced to match 1) its original symbology, 2) the level symbology of the master design file or 3) the level symbology of the file from which it is copied.
All of the merged reference file elements are placed on an assigned level to keep them logically separated, even though they are now one file.
