Graphisoft US Excels Among AEC Industry's Design and Documentation System ProvidersCompany Adds Nearly 500 Firms to Client Roster in Six Months
BOSTON - August 9, 2002 - /PRNewswire/ - Graphisoft US, developer of the virtual building concept, today announced that despite the global economic slowdown which has affected the AEC market across the world, the Company has sustained positive momentum through the first half of the year, fueled by hundreds of new client engagements and increased commitments from existing customers. Since the beginning of 2002, Graphisoft US has added nearly 500 AEC firms to its client roster. To combat the current economic downturn, many AEC firms are implementing ArchiCAD(R), Graphisoft's flagship software for building design and documentation, to gain efficiencies in their process and increase both their productivity and bottom line. The result has been good news for Graphisoft US, which has increased personnel, revenues and profits during a time when other prominent US CAD providers have announced stagnating sales. "Despite the difficulties of today's economy, sales have remained strong across our architectural design and facility management product lines, underscoring the exceptional value and performance that we are delivering to our clients," said Al Moulton, president of Graphisoft US. "The entire Graphisoft US team is energized by its success. Based on the strength of our products, we are excited about the Company's future and our role in supporting the growing number of AEC firms that are maximizing their potential through the use of intelligent building models." Sales have increased by 60 percent over last year for ArchiFM(TM), the Company's facility management solution that leverages ArchiCAD intelligent building models. In addition, Graphisoft subsidiary Drawbase has won several new contracts from clients in the healthcare, government and education sectors. Graphisoft's momentum is expected to carry through the end of the year with the Company's recent announcement of ArchiCAD 8, which will feature an even easier-to-use streamlined interface, increased application speed, additional document creation and management functionality, solid modeling operations and several improvements for drafting. "Interest in 3D model-based design has never been greater, as architects and design-build firms want to get more than just drawings out of their CAD system," said Chris Barron, vice president, architecture, for Graphisoft US. "They want -- and need -- to get accurate quantity take-offs, integrated door and window schedules, renderings and animations from a single solution. ArchiCAD is giving hundreds of firms a significant competitive advantage that you just can't get using your typical 2D CAD system. ArchiCAD is enabling our customers to visualize their work in 3D instantly, get a coordinated set of construction documents done more quickly, and have more fun doing what architects do best -- design." Graphisoft counts firms of all types, from small practices to multinational firms among the hundreds of users who are adopting the Company's architectural, facility management and building design technology to improve their processes and productivity. Design Atlantic Ltd. of Salisbury, Md., which offers architecture, planning and 4SiteSystems services utilizing ArchiCAD in design, managed data systems and the Internet, recently implemented ArchiFM to expand its practice to offer clients facilities lifecycle information management. The firm is also a founding member of the Triglyph Architectural Organization, a nationwide network of small, independently owned firms that have committed to implement the single building model approach using consistent standards. "Architects using ArchiCAD are starting with a better, faster and more efficient program than those using conventional CAD software," said Finith Jernigan, principal and founder of Design Atlantic Ltd. "Our approach maximizes the lifecycle benefits of the virtual practice model. Data is created once and then reused through the entire process. The goal is to eliminate the repetition and inefficiencies that characterize the traditional design process. So, the client gets more bang for the buck."
