ImpactXoft Includes D-Cubed’s 3D DCM in Latest Release of IX Design

August 2002 – D-Cubed announces the release of its 3D DCM component into the latest version of IX Design™ from ImpactXoft.

The 3D Dimensional Constraint Manager is a fully variational 3D constraint solving engine used for interactive assembly part positioning and kinematic simulation. It allows a wide range of dimensions and constraints to be added to the full range of geometry types found in modern CAD systems.

The 3D DCM is used in the latest version of IX Design as the foundation for its sophisticated assembly modeling tools. An industry standard solution, the 3D DCM’s flexible architecture allows it to be seamlessly integrated with IX Design's highly original Functional Modeling™ technology.

Functional Modeling emphasises the functionality rather than the geometry of a design feature. Complex geometric relationships, managed behind the scenes by IX Design, underlie the functionality based models that are used by the design engineer. The powerful geometric constraint solving capabilities of the 3D DCM support IX Design in shielding the end-user from these irrelevant, productivity sapping, geometric details. Furthermore, the simultaneous solving technology in the 3D DCM complements the flexible, history independent, design approach of IX Design.
