ParallelGraphics Joins Forces with Leading Technology Companies to Establish the CAD 3D Working GroupThe CAD 3D Working Group will define and develop common standards to best represent 3D images on the Web
DUBLIN, Ireland - July 24, 2002 - ParallelGraphics, a leader in the field of Web-based 3D technologies, today announced that it has joined forces with some of the world's best-known technology and 3D Graphics companies to establish the CAD (Computer Aided Design) 3D Working Group. The 3D Working Group will seek to define and develop a common CAD 3D format for Web usage. The CAD 3D Working Group is part of the Web 3D Consortium and members include CAD software vendors, CAD users, digital content creators and industry standards bodies. ParallelGraphics is a pioneer of several years standing in the development of 3D Web-based virtual manuals for online training and customer support and is partnering with global players like The Boeing Company in the development of Web-based training and maintenance systems. ParallelGraphics has developed solutions that significantly reduce human input in the creation of 3D animations from CAD data to rapidly create virtual manuals for online Web-based training and maintenance procedures. The Company's 3D visualization and optimization technologies can present and animate extremely complicated 3D simulations on a standard PC. "The formation of the CAD 3D Working Group is an important recognition of the potential future of 3D CAD systems. ParallelGraphics has been a market leader in this area and we see this group as a key element in educating companies on how Web 3D technologies can be used efficiently in a variety of customer service and training applications," said Connell Gallagher, President, ParallelGraphics. In addition to ParallelGraphics, the CAD 3D Working Group includes the Intel Corporation; 3Dlabs Inc.; Actify Inc.; Adobe Systems, ATI Technologies, Inc.; The Boeing Company; Dassault Systemes; Lattice Technology, Inc.; mental images GmbH & Co KG; Microsoft Corporation; Naval Postgraduate School; National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); SGDL Systems, Inc.; i3Dimensions, Inc. and Tech Soft America/OpenHSF.
