Axiom releases Microsoft Office Importer for V8

CLEARWATER, Florida - JULY 24, 2002 - Axiom, the world's largest independent developer of MicroStation utilities, recently announced the release of Microsoft Office Importer for V8 - one of six Axiom applications already released for MicroStation V8.

Microsoft Office Importer for V8 imports and links large amounts of data from Microsoft Office documents to MicroStation V8 files with formatting abilities far in excess of those available within MicroStation. Microsoft Office Importer for V8 provides exceptional formatting of spreadsheet and word processing data (like text alignment, bolding, italicization, underlining, column widths, rotated text, table borders and more) on import to MicroStation V8 files.

Owners of the V7 version of Microsoft Office Importer have reported being able to import very large spreadsheets with a single paste, for example, one containing 20 columns by 2,500 rows. The V7 version of the application is and will continue to be enhanced and supported by Axiom.

Linking and formatting features

Microsoft Office Importer for V8 formatting and import features include:

• Controls for easily setting the text height and text width 
• Font matching between the source document font and a font in MicroStation 
• Font conversion so that Windows fonts are converted to specific fonts in MicroStation on import - this is necessary when a finished design file must have a font specified by a client or a CAD standard. 
• Three ways to control the symbology of imported text and table borders. These are: 1) by using the color, weight and style in the source document, 2) by using the active symbology settings and 3) by using user-defined color, weight and style settings 
• Settings that define which levels are used for imported text and lines 
• Linking of imported data to the source document and, if desired, automatic update of the imported elements each time the design file is opened
