SAN ANTONIO - July 23, 2002 - /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the SIGGRAPH 2002 trade show, ArchVision(TM)'s Rich Photorealistic Content(TM) (RPC) is being shown in conjunction with the recently announced SGI(R) InfiniteReality4(TM) graphics designed for the SGI(R) Onyx(R) family of visualization systems.

Customers will be able to create environments almost indistinguishable from reality using the InfiniteReality4 graphics and image-based rendering solutions, including ArchVision's RPC. "InfiniteReality4 allows technical and creative professionals to generate virtual environments with the highest levels of scene complexity that are visually almost indistinguishable from reality. With InfiniteReality4 graphics and image-based rendering techniques, users will create dynamic, realistic environments," said Susan Tellep, director of product marketing, SGI.

Image-based content is promising to take the quality of environments created for simulation to a new level of realism. SGI and ArchVision will be demonstrating their joint efforts on the show floor at SIGGRAPH. Interested attendees can see the stunningly realistic RPC content in SGI booth #13063 and in ArchVision booth # 5075. RPC content is able to utilize full 1GB texture memory and a 10GB frame buffer, resulting in the highest image fidelity.

Aechelon Technology's recently announced C-NOVA(TM) visual simulation software, available on SGI Onyx family systems with InfiniteReality4 graphics, also optimizes RPC content and supports the RPC format. The increased texture memory available with the InfiniteReality4 graphics enables C-NOVA to render large numbers of image-based objects, including RPC, thus creating improved scene realism.

"This is the first time our content has been used in a simulation environment," said Randall Stevens, president and CEO of ArchVision, Inc. "The best training is based on how real it is in order to illicit true reactions from the trainee -- RPC delivers a level of realism that has been unknown to this market segment until now."

"RPC solutions have a fast render time while leveraging the next generation of hardware allowing the generation of real-time image data," says Ignacio (Nacho) Sanz Pastor, Aechelon principal engineer and founder. "This benefits anyone providing or taking simulation training."
