Release of Mold-Tech Materials for LightWorksAccurate visualization of industry standard surface finishes for molded and embossed products in the world's leading rendering engine!
SHEFFIELD, UK (27 June 2002) - LightWork Design, the world's leading supplier of quality advanced computer graphics software for rendering, simulation and verification solutions, today announced the release of Mold-Tech and Roehlen materials for LightWorks. Exclusive Development Since their strategic partnership was first announced, LightWork Design and Standex International have been working together to provide product designers with advanced solutions to their design needs. The first suite of Mold-Tech material archives is now available. These archives give designers the ability to select and accurately visualize Mold-Tech surface finishes within LightWorks-based rendering applications. Through the use of its unique procedural shading technology, LightWorks is the only rendering technology with the ability to visualize Mold-Tech surface finishes. Karl Shaw, President of Standex Engraving Group - North American Operations, "We are working in partnership with LightWork Design because of their expert knowledge of rendering combined with their unique understanding of what CAD designers really need. The introduction of Mold-Tech material archives now gives our customers a complete solution for the design and manufacture of molded parts. Also, the ability to encode and lock our data in the secure LightWorks LWA format is vitally important to us." He went on to say, "The combination of LightWorks rendering and our own Model-Tech process now gives designers the ability to select and accurately view Mold-Tech grains at all stages of the CAD design process and on physical prototype parts." Mold-Tech and Roehlen surface finishes are used to texturize the surface of the molds used in the manufacture of all types of molded products, including automobiles, consumer goods, architectural panelling and industrial parts. The accurate visualization of manufactured surface finishes, using the Mold-Tech material archives in LightWorks, gives designers a vital design tool for selecting and comparing any number of surface finish variations during the design stage. This helps them to create better and more visually appealing products and also gives them the assurance that the surface finishes they have selected are suitable, before the final process of etching the expensive molds used for manufacturing. These material archives have been eagerly anticipated by many product designers and architects who are keen to access this valuable aid to their aesthetic design processes. Key industry players are certain that this release will generate a great deal of interest in the rendering applications that support these new Mold-Tech archives. When asked about the release of Mold-Tech material archives, Gian Paolo Bassi, Chief Technology Officer at ImpactXoft commented, "It's great news! We are very excited about being able to visualize Mold-Tech materials within LightWorks and recognize that this will add significant value to our own product. This release demonstrates that LightWork Design understands the needs of industrial designers and are working to improve their product all the time." Nick Burt, IT Director at Alloy Total Product Design, said "I am delighted to hear about the release of Mold-Tech material archives for LightWorks. Accurate visualization of Mold-Tech surface finishes will be very valuable in helping us communicate our design ideas to our clients." He added, "It is impressive to see LightWork Design addressing the specialized needs of the Industrial Design industry and taking LightWorks beyond the 'pretty pictures' produced by ther rendering software." Mike Rebrukh, Director of Product Management for Unigraphics, EDS, added, "The ability to visualize Mold-Tech surface finishes will enable our customers, like Alloy Total Product Design, to be significantly more productive when designing their innovative products so we are pleased to announce that support for these new materials from LightWork Design will be included in our next release - Unigraphics NX."
