Wescast Industries Selects EDS for Product Lifecycle Management

EDS' Teamcenter Automotive Supplier software will enable Wescast to realize increased efficiencies through the control and consolidation of product and process data

PLANO, Texas - EDS today announced Wescast Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: WCST; TSE: WCS.A) has selected Teamcenter Automotive Supplier software from EDS PLM Solutions as its product lifecycle management (PLM) platform. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The world's largest supplier of cast exhaust manifolds for passenger cars and light trucks, Wescast designs, develops, manufactures and machines high-quality iron exhaust manifolds for global automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Wescast will deploy Teamcenter Automotive Supplier to manage its product development workflow, including design activities, approvals and change processes; document management and distribution; 3D visualization and enterprise design collaboration.

The Solution

Teamcenter Automotive Supplier is an out-of-the-box software solution that is tailored specifically to the processes, terminology, workflows and functional organizations of automotive suppliers. The Teamcenter components of multi-system computer-aided-design (CAD) management, single BOM management, configuration management, lightweight 3D visualization and document control are all configured to easily facilitate the implementation of the system, and get it up and running very quickly. Teamcenter Automotive Supplier is aligned with AIAG's Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) practices and is also CMII change-process compliant.
