BEAVERTON, Ore., June 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The editors of Cadalyst magazine have named Timberline's (NASDAQ:TMBS) CAD Integrator among the publication's new product All-Star award winners for the first half of 2002, as reported in the June 2002 issue. CAD Integrator was among 12 All-Star winners chosen from 53 semifinalists.

Since 1999, Cadalyst editors have presented the semiannual award to those products they felt were most innovative and which demonstrated new approaches to CAD technology.

"CAD Integrator's support of the IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) standard was what really caught our eye," said Art Liddle, editor-in-chief of Cadalyst magazine. "This standard offers a way for all members of the design/build/manage team to share data regardless of what CAD platform they're using, and even what application they're using. It moves the CAD data out of the CAD application altogether, allowing people throughout the enterprise to access the data in whatever way they need to."

CAD Integrator also took top honors at the recent A/E/C Systems 2002 exhibit and conference in Anaheim, California, when it shared both Cadalyst magazine' s Best of Show award and Cadence magazine's Show Stopper award as part of the BLIS project (Building Lifecycle Interoperable Software). The BLIS effort promotes the sharing of electronic information through the use of the IFC standard.

Released in February of this year, CAD Integrator is the first estimating software to incorporate IFCs. The standard allows the exchange of data between disparate programs, such as CAD (computer aided design) drawings and cost estimating. The IFC standard is designed, published and certified by the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI), a nonprofit industry organization.

With the software and Timberline Estimating, estimators can produce takeoffs and cost estimates directly from a CAD drawing and cut their estimating time from days to minutes. In addition, CAD Integrator is highly accurate, as the application virtually eliminates the need to digitize or re-key data from design drawing to takeoff quantities.
