IntelliWhere Announces Global Reseller and Product Development Partnership with Retriever CommunicationsIntelliWhere and Retriever to develop Retriever Service+maps, a mobile workforce automation suite integrating enterprise work order and intelligent mapping data
ATLANTA, June 11, 2002 - GeoSpatial World 2002 - IntelliWhere(TM), a division of Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions specifically focused on the location-based services (LBS) market, today announced a global partnership with mobile work management application service provider, Retriever Communications Pty Ltd. The partnership will see IntelliWhere selling the Retriever Service(TM), an established wireless solution for workforce automation. The two companies will also collaborate on the Retriever Service+maps, a solution that will integrate IntelliWhere's wireless mapping capabilities with the existing Retriever Service. The Retriever Service allows mobile workers to receive information wirelessly on handheld devices, laptops, and cell phones. They can use this information to complete call reports, view job details and inventory, and send updates back to the office system using electronic paperwork. IntelliWhere will offer the Retriever Service as a monthly subscription service model and as software for license. The service option frees customers from the risks and costs involved in deploying and maintaining a wireless infrastructure. Under the partnership agreement, IntelliWhere will resell the Retriever Service through Intergraph's sales channels in more than 60 countries. Expanded wireless access to corporate data with Retriever Service+maps The two companies are collaborating on a new product, Retriever Service+maps, a powerful mobile workforce automation suite that provides interactive field access to intelligent mapping and asset information. The Retriever Service+maps will send out electronic versions of a company's work orders, along with the relevant vector maps and diagrams from the corporate geographic information system (GIS). Mobile workers can operate in occasionally connected mode - connecting to receive work orders and maps. Then they work offline to use the data and capture information electronically before uploading this information back to the corporate system whenever it is convenient. For enterprises, the Retriever Service+maps will improve workflows by providing a critical link for sending all the necessary time-sensitive data to and from the field. Lee Finniear, managing director of IntelliWhere, said, "This relationship brings together two strong companies in the wireless industry with LBS and mobile workforce automation expertise. Retriever Communications is focused solely on wireless work order management and has successfully implemented the service business model. IntelliWhere, on the other hand, combined with Intergraph's established leadership in the GIS field, brings a global infrastructure and proven expertise in the LBS industry. With our customers increasingly looking toward a wireless future, we are pleased to provide expanded and innovative choices that allow enterprises to take an integrated approach." Mary Brittain-White, Retriever Communications' founder and CEO said, "We are excited about this opportunity to team with IntelliWhere, as we believe it gives us a significant competitive advantage in our core market - enterprise mobile workforce automation. The new Retriever Service+maps solution will allow enterprises to truly maximize their mobile workforce performance and their return on investment in major IT assets." The Retriever Service is available now and the Retriever Service+maps will be available from both IntelliWhere and Retriever in the third quarter of 2002. Retriever CommunicationsRetriever Communications, Pty. Ltd. develops and deploys a mobile application service, the Retriever Service, used by companies worldwide to provide time-sensitive data to workers who need to manage sophisticated data in the field.
