San Ramon, CA - June 11, 2002 - Insight Development Corporation today announced the release of Squiggle 5. Squiggle, Insight's award-winning software program, transforms CAD created hard-line vector drawings into illustrations that look hand-drawn. Using Squiggle 5, architects, engineers and designers can convert their CAD designs into more personalized drawings that can be published on the Web or used as traditional presentation pieces.

Incorporating a vast number of styles, Squiggle 5 takes the lines in a CAD drawing and applies random changes to them. Users can vary the width, color and style of up to 255 pens to transform their drawings into "hand-drawn" presentation quality illustrations. Users have the option of saving their drawings as DWG and DXF files, printing to any Windows supported printing device, or exporting files as BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG (Portable Network Graphics), DWF (AutoCAD's Drawing Web Format) and the increasingly popular SVG file formats.

"Squiggle 5 has been completely re-written, except for the award winning Squiggle algorithms, to provide specific user requested functionality and features," said Brent Gulick, Chief Executive Officer of Insight Development. "One of the great new features Insight has put into Squiggle is the added ability to export Squiggled drawings as SVG files. Now users will be able to take their Squiggled drawings and presentations onto the Web, allowing for scalable, high-quality graphics, interactivity and collaboration."

New Features and Enhancements: The new features and enhancements to Squiggle 5 were developed along two key themes, the first being function-specific enhancements most requested by customers, the second being increased flexibility of features. Following is a list of key new features and enhancements:

Improved exporting capabilities In addition to the BMP, GIF, TIFF and JPEG formats previously supported, Squiggle 5 now adds support for PNG, DWF, and SVG file formats. New exportable features include a user defined image size (in pixels), selectable number of bits per pixel (i.e. number of colors) and the ability to set the background color transparent for GIF and PNG images.

Improved drawing support Squiggle 5 now provides improved drawing support for all AutoCAD drawings (both DWG and DXF) from version 2.5 to present (AutoCAD 2002).

Improved handling of HPGL and HPGL/2 plot files Squiggle 5 has greater support for plot files in both HPGL and HPGL/2 format.

Save Squiggled drawings back into AutoCAD's DWG or DXF formats Not only can users convert their CAD drawings (R2.5 to AutoCAD 2002) from DWG to DXF and DXF to DWG, but now they can also save "Squiggled" drawings back to a DWG or DXF for use with their main CAD application.

Select Squiggle settings based on pens or layers To improve control over the Squiggle styles, users have the ability to define Squiggle style settings based on layers, as well as with pens, as in previous versions.

Custom Squiggle styles and pen templates stored as small files Users can now easily create and share custom Squiggle styles and pen templates for collaboration.

Squiggled entity selection Turn on/off Squiggling for supported entity types. Squiggle 5 supports the following entities: line, circle, ellipse, arc, polyline, and more.
Streamlined user interface Streamlined user interface allows users to find the features they need quickly and easily.
