Softco Releases S-MAN 5 for AutoCAD 2000-2002
Victoria British Columbia, Jun3 4 2002 -- Barrie Mathews, manager of product design and engineering at Softco Engineering Systems Inc. announces S-MAN 5, its latest release of the S-MAN Standards Manager for AutoCAD 2000-2002 platforms. S-MAN 5 is Softco's 5th successive platform release since the original S-MAN Standards Manager was developed for AutoCAD 12 in 1996. S-MAN provides an expert systems model for companies that need to implement consistent CAD standards and a high level production system without having to develop it from scratch. S-MAN 5 now covers the newest capabilities provided with AutoCAD 2000 and 2002. S-MAN development focuses on evaluating the most powerful and trouble free alternatives for implementing standard setups, while ensuring that the configuration will accommodate all the irregularities that may arise in your practice. It is designed for either a new cad manager and/or a consultant to help you develop your AutoCAD production system based on a systems model with more than 8 years of development experience behind it. S-MAN is fully editable and it becomes your management tool for on-going systems maintenance, keeping you abreast with the latest technologies. The Management System and the Implementation System are the 2 primary components in S-MAN 5. The Management System is composed of a classified directory structure containing your set of S-MAN setup resources and templates. You may further develop these resources in specified development folders, and then distribute them to root folders for active use while storing your previous versions in backup folders. For a large project which has some special standards requirements, your entire system can be copied from the root folder1 to easily set up a modified version in a new root folder2. The resources include complete documentation of the S-MAN systems model that defines standards, analyses the troubling issues, shows you how the processes work, and why certain procedures are recommended. A set of 3 indexed binders is provided, one containing the documentation of the S-MAN systems model, one for storing the edited documentation for your company, and the other for storing the documentation to be included in a user's station manual. The Implementation System now includes version 3.1 of StanUtil, which incorporates all of the latest S-MAN standards management utilities in one package. StanUtil offers you the means to automate the standards into your every day drawing work based on the definition files that you define and maintain from a central location on your computer network. New features in S-MAN 5 include:
Customers using the previous release of S-MAN for AutoCAD 2000 may download the upgrade to S-MAN 5 for AutoCAD 2000-2002 free of charge, simply by submitting a product update request form at www.softcosys.com/updates.htm Industry versions of the Standards Manager are priced at $599 and you can optionally include Softco's StanConvert translator for upgrading old drawings for an additional $250.
