Motor-CAD - 3D Thermal Design for Electric Machines
TROY, N.Y., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Magsoft Corporation announced today that it has reached an agreement with Motor Design Ltd., a UK firm based in Shropshire, for the distribution of their award-winning product, Motor-CAD, in North America and Asia. With this product, Magsoft expands its highly technical suite of numerical tools and opens new horizons for its electric machine customers. Motor-CAD is particularly valuable in the concept stage of the design process for electric machines. Motor-CAD instantly computes the thermal solution of a design using lumped circuit modeling. The steady-state solution can be readily viewed in a simple schematic format, where one can visualize the temperature distribution of the entire electric machine. Thermal transients including complex duty-cycles can also be modeled easily, and the results viewed in graphical format. Potential motor configurations can be explored to identify either the most promising alternatives, or those prone to thermal failure. This technology is a dramatic improvement over other available 3D alternatives. Motor-CAD currently supports brushless permanent magnet motors, induction motors, and switch reluctance motors, and an intuitive interface allows one to smoothly enter pertinent motor data in organized templates.
