New Dell Precision M50 Offers Desktop Workstation Performance in a Mobile Package

SYDNEY, Australia, May 13, 2002 - Dell today announced availability of the Dell PrecisionTM Workstation M50, designed specifically for professionals who require mobility and the performance to do complex, high-end computing.

Priced starting at A$8,056(1) (including GST) the Dell Precision M50 comes with the NVIDIA? QuadroTM4 500 Go GL graphics processing unit and a single Intel? Pentium? 4-M processor at 1.8GHz, both of which fuel performance for high-end 3-D graphic operations like OpenGL and DirectX professional applications. It is designed for customers who need workstation hardware certification with independent software vendors in the computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, digital content creation, geographic information systems, computer animation, software development and financial analysis markets.

According to Yu Dan Shi, Asia-Pacific Product Marketing Manager for Dell Precision workstations, the Dell Precision M50 complements Dell's line of Precision workstations by providing the same certification and support as the company's desktop workstations with the added benefit of mobility. "This new product delivers the outstanding performance, high-end graphics, and flexibility our customers have come to expect from the world's preferred provider of workstation products," she said.

* Memory configurations: 256, 512, 1024 MB PC2100 Double Data Rate SDRAM

* Hard drive options: 40 and 60GB2 ATA-100, 5400 RPM
