Samsung SDS America and Syncron Technologies Form Key Strategic Alliance to Speed Viewing of Design Decisions Over the Net

SAN JOSE, Calif. and Scottsdale, Ariz., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung SDS America (SDSA), a subsidiary company of Samsung SDS, and Syncron Technologies, a recently launched DESP (design environment service provider), have announced the formation of a key strategic alliance to merge compatible technologies as well as identify and develop complementary products for specific targeted markets.

Early in 2002, Samsung SDSA identified Syncron's Universal Design Network(TM) (UDN) technology as complementary to WiseVIEW, Samsung's multi-viewer for the engineering and design market. This alliance formalizes the integration of WiseVIEW components with Syncron's UDN software and speeds the viewing of design decisions over the Internet.

WiseVIEW will be incorporated into the Syncron's product and will provide the CAD engineering design viewer engine within UDN.

"In the technology market today, being able to move quickly from drawing board to the production line is critical for success," commented Dr. Ji Young Chang, Vice President, Samsung SDSA. "WiseVIEW accelerates design collaboration to a whole new level, which enables companies to meet this challenge."

Syncron's UDN is a Web-based software platform that allows multiple suppliers and multiple engineering disciplines at remote locations to communicate, collaborate, select parts, make design decisions, verify designs and make changes in real-time in an open, secure environment.

Using UDN, designers of high-speed printed-circuit boards can substantially shorten product development time and reduce costs.

By combining the features of WiseVIEW, which enable files created using different modelers in various formats, to be viewed, inspected and redlined in one window, UDN creates consistency in the work environment and enhances job efficiency.

Bob Burke, Western Region Sales Director, Samsung SDSA pointed out, "WiseVIEW supports the viewing of models files from all of the major 2D and 3D CAD systems. By enabling non-CAD users to view and mark up CAD files, WiseVIEW allows all of the members of the design team to fully benefit from the UDN system. The cost savings that this brings to users can be enormous."

Commented Dr. Phil Calhoun, Syncron's founder and CEO: "With the number of CAD documents increasing all the time, a solution is needed for managing the availability of CAD drawings while allowing easy, efficient access to all related information from anywhere by each member of the design team. Integrating the mechanical drawing and visualization capabilities of WiseVIEW into UDN fills this need and adds great value to the design environment we provide."

The two companies will offer several different levels of service, based on the complexity of clients needs. Different versions of WiseVIEW will be included at the various levels to best meet client uses. Each company will continue to offer their products independently within their own markets, while Syncron will lead the sales of the combined product. Both companies consider this partnership beneficial to the market place and consider each other to be a critical partner for continued growth in sales. They look forward to opening new markets and business opportunities within the U.S.
