PALO ALTO, Calif., May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TIBCO Software Inc. ( NASDAQ:TIBX) today announced its extended service offering for high-tech manufacturers (HTMs), enabling these companies to take full advantage of secure Web Services through TIBCO ActiveExchange(TM). As part of TIBCO's suite of business integration products, TIBCO ActiveExchange allows businesses to automate processes and transactions with other companies over the Internet. TIBCO ActiveExchange provides a single platform for seamless Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Business-To-Business (B2B) that accelerates integration with partners (suppliers, distributors, resellers) and customers.

Today's high-tech manufacturers are facing increased challenges matching demand and supply with shorter product lifecycles and complex supply chain networks. TIBCO ActiveExchange is being offered as a cost-effective solution to address these problems with real-time global visibility of product information, orders and demand signals, inventory and supply status across the distributed value chain. TIBCO has partnered with leading product lifecycle management solution provider PTC, while also leveraging its long-standing relationship with RosettaNet, to deliver a fully comprehensive business integration platform for HTMs that spans the process from product design to fulfillment. For example, TIBCO and PTC can provide an end-to-end RosettaNet solution for product information exchange through the integration of TIBCO Active Exchange for RosettaNet and PTC's Interactive Product Catalog solution, Windchill PartsLink.

"Streamlining business processes both internally and externally is an integral part of our worldwide e-business strategy. We needed a complete solution for enterprise application integration (EAI), B2B connectivity, and business process automation to increase the efficiency of our supply chain, which ultimately, helps us get to market faster," said Bill Roeder, director of Worldwide eBusiness Global Sales Operations for Philips Semi conductors. "With the TIBCO solutions we are able to interface using industry standards and obtain visibility to our supply chain, enabling us to make more accurate forecasts based on real-time information. The result is improved customer service and cost savings because we are able to decrease the burden on our internal resources."

TIBCO's partnership with RosettaNet, a non-profit consortium that has created initiatives designed to solve the most pressing issues within the high-technology supply chain, allows HTMs to leverage their existing investments in industry standards. TIBCO demonstrated early support for the RosettaNet standard by developing TIBCO BusinessConnect for RosettaNet, an industrial-strength B2B integration server that enables companies to conduct secure, real-time transactions with suppliers and partners of any size.

"High-tech manufacturers are in the unique position of benefiting significantly from streamlined supply chains through enhanced efficienci es," said Jennifer Hamilton, chief executive officer of RosettaNet.

"Emerging solutions being delivered to the marketplace by RosettaNet partners such as TIBCO Software will go a long way towards opening the lines of communication between companies and their partners and suppliers."

"High-tech manufacturing demands constant innovation, collaboration and control over the entire product lifecycle. In order to bring products to market faster, companies need to provide constant communication of product design and manufacturing information across the value chain," said James Heppelmann, executive vice president of software solutions and chief technology officer at PTC. "This combined solution from PTC and TIBCO facilitates collaboration among value chain partners and changes the way that products are developed, built and delivered."

By providing the unique ability to seamlessly integrate internal processes and systems with cross-company transactions, TIBCO ActiveExchange allows HTMs to dramatically cut product introduction times, reduce inventory levels, lower the cost of distributor management, improve the efficiency of order processing, and gain improved performance from their supply chains and distribution channels.

"With TIBCO ActiveExchange, HTMs can automate their entire product process, from product conception and completion to fulfillment of customer orders," said Murat Sonmez, senior vice president for TIBCO Software. "TIBCO is committed to addressing the most pressing issues faced by the high-tech manufacturing industry. We will continue to form partnerships and uphold industry standards that will allow HTMs to take advantage of Web services, streamline their supply chains and communicate efficiently with their partners and customers."
