Cincinnati, OH. Rapid Prototyping 2002, April 30 2002: Accelerated Technologies, Inc., a leading rapid prototyping service bureau, today announced that it has become a Preferred Objet Partner (POP) for Objet Geometries?. Accelerated Technologies has completed its first year of operation of this unique rapid prototyping technology, and this agreement expands the company's service to provide PolyJet prototypes and sell PolyJet-based Objet Quadra and QuadraTempo Systems.

The new PolyJet process, developed by Objet Geometries, applies ink-jet technologies to rapid prototyping, resulting in high quality, high-resolution prototypes with exceptional surface finishes.

"The superb results, competitive build times and attractive price of this technology dovetail with our mission to provide our customers with the best, fastest and most reliable service," stated Mike Durham, Accelerated Technologies Inc.'s general manager, "Objet's strategy is to focus on support, best-in-class technology, and service, before sales and marketing, which has given us the confidence that PolyJet is a cost-effective, high-value solution for our customers"

The PolyJet process distinguishes itself from other rapid prototyping systems with its unique approach to 3D printing. Using drop-on-demand ink jet technology, PolyJet deposits a photopolymer in ultra thin layers, just 20 microns (0.0008"). The result is a prototype with smooth surfaces and fine detail without any sanding or finishing. The technology's unique method of supporting the prototype during construction further reduces part-finishing efforts so that most prototypes are ready for shipment in less than 15 minutes after printing.

Under the POP agreement, Accelerated Technologies will continue to focus its expertise on rapid prototyping services, while sharing sales and support responsibilities for Quadra systems with Objet Geometries. Accelerated Technologies will perform a key role in developing awareness and sales opportunities for the technology, and provide a demonstration center for the unique technology.

Accelerated Technologies chose to implement Objet Geometries' PolyJet process in 2001, and the company now operates two systems, an Objet Quadra? and an Objet QuadraTempo?. These systems are available in the USA at a retail price of $69,000 and $79,000 respectively.
