NAVISWORKS ANNOUNCES ITS LATEST RELEASE - NAVISWORKS 2.2

Sheffield, UK, 29th April 2002: NavisWorks Ltd., developers of interactive viewing technology and the leading 3D design review solution today announced the arrival of its new version, NavisWorks 2.2. The latest release offers full support for Windows XP and delivers features that will further enhance collaborative team working.

NavisWorks 2.2 increases the number of file formats that can be natively opened and united as compressed, secure .nwd files for review. An interactive review solution for even the largest 3D models, NavisWorks enables anyone, anywhere to visualise, mark up and comment on a design as .nwd can be distributed and reviewed using a standard specification PC and without a CAD system. NavisWorks 2.2 maintains the trend of developing the products to be the most effective visualisation solution open to both 3D CAD and non-CAD users who wish to conveniently communicate design ideas to others.

This new release introduces and enhances a number of key features including:

New exporters that mean that models with textures, materials and lights exported from 3D Studio Viz V3 and Autodesk Viz 4, in addition to those created using NavisWorks can now be interactively viewed with all NavisWorks products. These new Viz exporters enhance the benefit of NavisWorks for those who want to share the design concept and the opportunity to navigate and comment upon it.

Bentley users, their collaborators and clients can now benefit from NavisWorks following the introduction of an enhanced .dgn reader. NavisWorks 2. 2 offers an elegant solution for everybody to review MicroStation files and means 3D .dwg and .dgn files can be reviewed in the same scene at the same time.

New IGES and STEP readers offer users of an array of 3D modelling systems, including Inventor 5 and Solid Edge 11, a path to NavisWorks. Steel work created in Solid Edge can, for the first time, be united in NavisWorks and coordinated with Autodesk or MicroStation files to check for interferences. Alternatively IGES files from Inventor 5 can be opened and materials and textures applied using Presenter and saved as .nwd.

Commenting upon the success to date, Peter Thompson says, "Every NavisWorks release is designed to both enhance existing user benefits as well as make us more attractive to a wider audience. NavisWorks 2.2 products will be available from the start of May 2002 and are localised for Germany and Japan.
