PTC Strengthens Windchill with Rapid Deployment Option for Product Data ManagementWindchill PDMLink Helps Manufacturers Energize Product Development
NEEDHAM, Mass. - April 8, 2002 - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the product development company, today strengthened its Windchill Web-based collaboration and control offering with the introduction of a new Quick Start Solution called Windchill PDMLink. Windchill PDMLink leverages a multitude of implementation best practices that PTC has developed through the introduction of Windchill technology at over 600 global customers during the past four years. With Windchill PDMLink and the other Windchill Quick Start Solutions, PTC gives companies of all sizes a range of new and effective Windchill deployment options to quickly address the most critical business challenges they encounter. Windchill PDMLink is the latest installment in PTC's comprehensive, integrated family of solutions based on Windchill technology. Other pre-packaged, rapidly deployable Windchill Quick Start Solutions now available include: Windchill ProjectLink, Windchill PartsLink and Windchill DynamicDesignLink. Windchill Applications such as Windchill Foundation, Windchill PDM and Windchill ProductView complete the Windchill suite, and provide the flexibility to accommodate unique customer deployment requirements. Windchill represents a critical element of PTC's on-going commitment to support "Product First," a comprehensive business strategy where manufacturing companies adopt a single-minded focus on superior products in order to drive revenue growth and shareholder value. Comprehensive PDM From Any Starting PointA tremendous amount of information is generated during the product development process and throughout the lifecycle of a product. As the single source of product information for the enterprise, Windchill product data management systems are used to capture, aggregate, and manage product information from many sources - including a variety of CAD formats - making it easy for people beyond engineering to add value to the product development process, and enabling enterprises to bring order and control to the product development process. With its Quick Start implementation option, Windchill PDMLink represents a breakthrough in the deployment of PDM. Windchill PDMLink can easily be combined with other Windchill solutions and with Pro/ENGINEER(r), PTC's market leading 3D product development solution, to meet the full range of creation, collaboration and control needs across the product lifecycle. "At Banner Engineering, we are implementing Windchill PDMLink to gain an edge over our competitors by shortening our product development cycle and getting to market sooner," said Rod Jones, engineering systems manager. "Windchill PDMLink will greatly reduce the administration time spent during product development, thereby allowing more time for engineering and creativity. Windchill PDMLink will also allow Banner Engineering to focus even more time on our core competencies, which are product innovation and addressing customers' needs." Bruce Jenkins, executive vice president market analyst firm, Daratech, states, "Windchill PDMLink's promise of out-of-the-box, instant-on PDM, combined with a fixed-price, five-week implementation, could mark a new era for PDM. Manufacturers that want to begin laying the foundation for product lifecycle management as rapidly as possible should look closely at PTC's new offering." To supplement the Quick Start technology implementation package, PTC's premier enterprise consulting partners, such as Accenture, Andersen, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, CSC, Deloitte Consulting, Hewlett-Packard Consulting, KPMG and TRW offer complementary service offerings to ensure that the customer fully leverages the power of Windchill throughout their business processes. "We are excited to work with PTC to offer Windchill PDMLink to our customers," said Bruce Culbert, senior vice president, KPMG Consulting, Inc. "We believe this solution will help today's manufacturing leaders who want end-to-end product development solutions that can quickly help enhance profitability, time to market and improve customer service." Windchill PDMLink began shipping to select customers in March 2002, and will be generally available in May 2002. On May 1, PTC will participate in a Webcast discussing how Windchill PDMLink is being used to consistently deliver highly innovative products.
