COSMOS/Consulting Services Experience 40% Increase

Los Angeles, CA, April 3, 2002 - Structural Research & Analysis Corp. (SRAC), a leading developer of design analysis, optimization, and simulation software for the mechanical computer aided engineering community, today announced the expansion of its engineering consulting services. SRAC's 2001 consulting revenues were up 40% from the previous year, the highest growth in the company's history.

The ever-increasing need for finite element analysis (FEA) in today's engineering environment is accompanied by the need for competent analysts. Many companies, however, neither have the resources nor the continuous need for a full time analyst on staff. The COSMOS/ Consulting Department provides its clients with analysis experience on demand, as project needs arise. With a staff comprised of qualified engineering professionals, COSMOS/ Consulting can shorten product development cycles, improve product quality, gain competitive advantages, and increase profits.

"Over the past two years, I have designed several pieces of aircraft testing equipment that required FEA. When engineers do this type of analysis work on an occasional basis, it may be impractical to own the software that is required. That is where SRAC comes in," says Mike Robinson, a consulting engineer at Robinson Engineering. "It is comforting to know that we have a qualified professional on our team who is current with the latest techniques of FEA. Even though I do not perform FEA on a daily basis, the SRAC consultants do. I can have confidence that we are obtaining an accurate analysis of our project."

Some of the COSMOS/ Consulting Department's main areas of expertise include basic stress, modal response, dynamic response, and nonlinear structural. In addition, the department performs analysis at many levels, from proof of concept to failure analysis. The staff's vast area of expertise is suitable for most tasks, capable of finding the optimal solution to specific needs. They are qualified to handle various industry-specific cases and have assisted in matters involving aerospace, biomedical, automotive, power, manufacturing, military, and electronics.

"When the need arose to perform two non-linear analyses in a very short period of time, I contacted the consulting group at SRAC. The two problems were distinctly different: the first problem was to analyze the creep behavior of a glass filled plastic under a static load over a three year period, and the other problem was to understand the complex behavior of the threaded connection between two plastic parts under dynamic loading," says Robert Millers, an independent consulting engineer. "I received excellent support from SRAC and had results I could use to make design recommendations within one week. I would recommend SRAC consulting services to any engineer in need of answers to difficult questions."
