Introduction of Worldwide Standard for Computer Based Color Creation and Formulation - CBN System

THE CBN SYSTEM 

CBN is the first and only company that has developed and commercialised a technology that empowers end-users/consumers to create and purchase millions of custom colors for a multitude of materials. These materials include, paint, stain, concrete, stucco, caulk, grout, textiles, anodized finishes, and plastics. The CBN System is comprised of three proprietary software modules, CBN Selector, CBN Assistant and CBN Formulator. THE CBN TECHNOLOGY 

The CBN code system was invented by CBN from the pure necessity of not having one universal system that would communicate color across multiple color standards and product applications. In the real world we deal with many different types of color standards such as RGB, CMYK, and HTML, and use color in different applications. Typically, a color specified in one standard cannot be reliably translated into another. The result is that a color specified on a computer for paint, grout, floor coverings, and appliances will look different from the specified color in each product, and each product will look different from each other. CBN numbers are a universal color specification system that provides the ability to completely interchange between different color specifications and applications using a single and exact "alphanumeric code". Input specifications that map to CBN numbers include (but are not limited to): RGB, CMYK, HSV, HSB, HTML, LUV, LAB, SCF, XYZ, Bradford-RGB and CSC. Virtually any color that can be quantified in any color specification can be directly quantified in terms of a single and exact CBN number.

3D COLOR SPHERE 

All current methods of displaying color charts in printed media or in digitally displayed color palettes are 2 dimensional (flat). CBN's color sphere is the first and only 3D or multi-dimensional consumer color palette. One of its main features is that it can be rotated through all colors available within the hue selected or any predefined individual color pigment set. In the advance mode the software will display up to 16,777,216 colors, including millions of new colors that have never been available in most materials. This is only limited by the capabilities of the viewer and the computer hardware.

CBN PRODUCTS 

he CBN System is distributed free to consumers for product color design and specification. The free tools are CBN Selector and CBN Assistant. CBN Selector is a stand-alone product design for specifiers and retail consumers. It is developed specifically to allow the consumer to view color chips and specify color on their home computer that can be created in a wide range of applications. Selector's "Virtual Color" feature enables users to import their own digital images, and recolor them while maintaining the original lighting and shading effects. CBN Assistant is designed for architects, designers, and professional specification writers. Assistant functions as a standalone product, or provides additional features when integrated with popular design applications such as AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Corel. CBN Assistant enables design professionals to move their color chips to their PC, create custom colors, have color specification reports produced automatically, and create and share their color specifications digitally. This is a feature rich application designed for the professional. CBN Formulator is designed for manufacturers and is part of the CBN System Affiliate Program. CBN Formulator has the ability to create millions of "NEW" CBN color formulas for each manufacturers base materials.
