HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 21, 2002 - The new 3.4 version of the SmartPlant(r) Explorer software for accessing engineering enterprise information is now available from the Process, Power & Offshore division of Intergraph Corporation <Nasdaq: INGR>. SmartPlant Explorer 3.4 consolidates software architectures from previous versions into an updated SmartPlant architecture and offers a number of new features. Within a single, Web environment, users can now navigate among design engineering data from Plant Design System (PDS(tm)) P&ID, SmartPlant(r) P&ID and INtools(tm). Other new features include performance enhancements, additional INtools data accessibility, Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 2000 compatibility, favorites functionality and an interface with the new SmartPlant Markup non-destructive file viewing and drawing/document markup software.

Navigate Among Key Data Sources

Through a single, familiar and consistent Web interface, users can now navigate among key plant engineering data sources from PDS P&ID, SmartPlant P&ID and INtools. The current, accurate plant data accessible from these and other sources through SmartPlant Explorer feed both upstream and downstream work processes for engineering design, construction, start up, commissioning, O&M, plant upgrades and expansions and virtually any related concurrent engineering task.

Faster Access to Information

SmartPlant Explorer 3.4 features two performance enhancements. Users can retrieve INtools data, such as equipment data sheets, up to three times faster than in the previous version. Administrators setting up the server-side component of SmartPlant Explorer can now publish PDS projects to the network in minutes. Faster performance means quicker access to data, easier server-side setup and time savings for users and administrators alike.

Supports Engineering, Operations

A number of other new features make SmartPlant Explorer a more valuable engineering and O&M tool. SmartPlant Explorer 3.4 supports additional INtools item types, so that instrumentation personnel can locate and display INtools terminal strips and run related reports. New "Favorites" functionality enables users to save frequently-used queries or reports as Favorites and re-execute them on demand. For example, a piping engineer can build a query for valves added to a line since a specified time and run the query as needed. Microsoft Windows 2000 compatibility provides deployment flexibility so the enterprise can keep pace with the latest operating system technology.

Integrates with the New SmartPlant Markup

An interface with the new SmartPlant Markup software allows users to perform non-destructive markup of queried drawings and documents. SmartPlant Explorer locates the files through queries and starts the optional SmartPlant Markup software. SmartPlant Markup provides precision viewing and markup for common CAD and raster file formats and SmartPlant Markup Plus expands these capabilities to more than 150 additional file types including spreadsheet, database, word processing and others.

About SmartPlant Explorer 3.4

A Web tool for the engineering and plant enterprise, SmartPlant Explorer 3.4 helps further increase the value and utility of plant data while lowering total cost of ownership because it is easy to use, install, configure and maintain. The point-and-click Web display, navigation and reporting functions of SmartPlant Explorer enable users to reduce search time for plant data by 30 to 40 percent. Virtually no training is needed, since users are already comfortable with the Microsoft Internet Explorer environment.

Through its familiar Web browser interface, SmartPlant Explorer 3.4 finds, queries, displays and reports on a variety of tabular and graphical plant data throughout the facility life cycle. SmartPlant Explorer is open and can integrate with software from SAP, AspenTech and others. The SmartPlant Explorer client runs on Microsoft Windows 98, Windows NT(r) and Windows 2000 operating systems. The server component requires Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 workstation or server or Windows 2000 operating system.
