C4W Announces ModelView
Montpellier, March 14th 2002 -- We don't need to stress how much the cooperation and the collaboration are important between participants in the field of design and manufacturing of tooling. The productivity and the quality of results depend widely on the level of reciprocal information along the supply chain. That was the focus of the European Project COSMOS. Developed and designed with industrials as a part of MoldIntegra (the integrated system born from COSMOS), 3D Shop ModelView allows all participants, from the quotation office to the shop floor, to easily analyze, print and mark up the original geometry of any CAD file without the original CAD/CAM system. Handling the exact geometry of course brings precision and useful information on the model sub-entities but enables to highlight the differences between two versions of a model, hence to better take into account the modifications. During all the industrial tests ModelView has shown its ease of use and seamless integration in the product data management system. Francis CADIN, DATAKIT's CEO - C4W's partner for the native files interfaces declares: "ModelView is an example of successful collaboration. Thanks to the deep industrial testing we reached the high level of quality needed by users." In accordance with the needs of the mold and die making industry, ModelView is the ideal tool for all the players in the supply chain. ModelView is proposed at a very attractive price of 500 (standard package). Last, ModelView is a member of a family of products covering several fields such as the quality inspection of 3D models according to the criteria defined by the SASIG (the international pool of automotive associations like AIAG, GALIA , ODETTE, VDA, Jama, etc. ) and even the healing of models. A complete version of ModelView is available on the company website and allows users to evaluate the reading of CATIA, IGES, STEP, VRML, STL for 20 uses. ModelView runs on PC with WindowsTM, NT, 2000 or XP. Supported CAD Formats STEP, IGES 2D and 3D, CATIA 2D and 3D, UG II, SAT, DXF, DWG, XMT, B-rep, OPN, C4W, VDA, CADDS, Unisurf, VRML, OBJ, 3DS, STL, RAW The COSMOS project gathered COMAU, FIAT Research Center, the Plastic Institute of Aachen, Distrim2 from Marinha Grande(Portugal) and C4W around MoldIntegra which is an integrated software platform for the mold makers. The results were presented at EuroMold 2001 in Stuttgart.
