HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 12, 2002 - Connecting local communities and creating unique user experiences is the focus of the new international chapter program from the Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community (IGUC). IGUC chapters are defined by geographic region and act as catalysts for bringing together local mapping and GIS professionals and Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions personnel to enhance education, training, productivity, and networking through local events, technical forums, educational seminars, new product demonstrations, and other activities.

The IGUC Netherlands Chapter was recently chartered as the first official chapter. Chapter members will celebrate with a kick-off meeting March 14, including a preview of the next-generation GeoMedia(R) 5.0 products, sharing of successful customer accomplishments, and presentation of Intergraph Netherlands' GIS Award 2001 recognizing an innovative GeoMedia-based customer implementation.

"Whether learning about mapping and GIS at the GeoSpatial World International Training and Management Conference or at an IGUC chapter meeting, connecting users on an international as well as a local level augments their overall professional experience," said Bart Hoogenraad, marketing director, Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions. "The Netherlands chapter recognizes the value in furthering user education and networking through a local community. We anticipate quick growth of the IGUC chapter program worldwide as users begin to experience the benefits of participating in a local chapter."

Membership in an IGUC chapter is open to members who have joined the Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community. For information about organizing or joining an IGUC chapter, visit www.intergraph.com/gis/community/chapters.asp.
