CADCAM-E Announces Support for Unigraphics Version 18 and Pro/ENGINEER 2001 Data Translations
(Farmington Hills, Michigan - March 4, 2002) CADCAM-E has announced new versions of its Unigraphics to Pro/ENGINEER and Unigraphics to Mastercam over-the-web CAD/CAM interoperability solutions that support Unigraphics Version 18 and Pro/ENGINEER Version 2001. Version 1.2 of its CIMPro-UG Unigraphics to Pro/ENGINEER solution supports all versions and builds of Pro/ENGINEER through 2001 and Versions 14 through 18 of Unigraphics. Version 2.1 of its CIMMC-UG Unigraphics to Mastercam solution supports Mastercam versions 8.1.X and 9.0 and Versions 14 through 18 of Unigraphics. Each of the new products runs on Windows NT or Windows 2000 and eliminates the need for purchasing a high-end CAD system license. This approach is ideal for subcontractors because the cost of the translation can usually be charged to the customer's project. CIMPro-UG and CIMMC-UG are ideal for Pro/ENGINEER and Mastercam users who have to work with Unigraphics data but do not have access to Unigraphics software. CIMPro-UG is completely integrated within Pro/ENGINEER and can read Unigraphics data within Pro/ENGINEER without requiring Unigraphics. CIMMC-UG is a C-hook that is integrated into the Mastercam menu and provides seamless data exchange between Unigraphics and Mastercam. Both packages convert all 3D Unigraphics geometry entities into equivalent target system entities, including solids and assemblies and are very simple to operate, providing "one-button" translation. CADCAM-E's web site delivers interoperability solutions to the user's desktop over the web. The user simply registers for the service, downloads the translation software and installs it on their desktop. Running the conversion application on the desktop provides the fastest conversion speed. In addition to these new translators, CADCAM-E also offers a wide range of conversion solutions between CATIA, Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Mastercam and Mechanical Desktop systems and PARASOLID, ACIS, IGES and STEP formats. CADCAM-E also offers a wide range of services targeted at engineering and manufacturing organizations as well as independent software vendors. The company's engineers can economically perform translations, particularly those involving feature-based solids, that can't be cost-effectively automated. They can also provide legacy data conversion, 3D design and drafting, computer-aided engineering, manufacturability studies, data conversion and distribution to the supply chain and the development of web-based engineering applications. The company also offers licensable components for reading and writing CAD files independent of the CAD systems that created them. These components can be embedded in software packages to provide seamless interoperability with most any CAD system. The company also provides custom programming to customer specifications.
