SINGAPORE and PLANO, Texas - EDS reported today it has sold the first round of collaborative software solutions to members of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program, a group of highly respected global military aircraft manufacturers.

The company announced the signings in conjunction with Tuesday's opening of the Asian Aerospace 2002 air show in Singapore.

Through its PLM Solutions line of business, EDS received agreements valued at $8M for its Teamcenter software and related services from JSF Program members including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and BAE SYSTEMS. Terms of individual contracts were not disclosed. Teamcenter will enable the JSF virtual global enterprise - the 10,000 person-strong team of Lockheed Martin, BAE SYSTEMS, Northrop Grumman and an estimated 27 other partners and suppliers - to create a secure, immediately accessible web-based environment to collaboratively design, build, test, deploy and support the JSF global fleet.

"The JSF team is uniquely positioned to achieve unprecedented productivity improvements with the Teamcenter collaborative solution," said Tim Nichols, vice president and general manager of the JSF Program at EDS PLM Solutions. "As this virtual global enterprise expands across all members of the JSF Consortium, new performance standards in design, development and manufacturing cycle time will be realized and product lifecycle costs will be positively impacted with the seamless use of the same, highly disciplined product data management system."

Awarded to the Lockheed Martin-led team on October 26, 2001, JSF represents the largest defense contract in United States history. The JSF will develop and build 3,000 or more fighters for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, the U.K. Ministry of Defense and numerous other countries throughout the world.

Teamcenter at JSF

With Teamcenter, Lockheed Martin and its team will integrate all aspects of the JSF program, from design through fabrication and assembly, to in-service support by creating an extremely secure and immediately accessible comprehensive information database, complete with all design requirements, design results, and bill of materials. This database will be available via local and wide area networks and the Internet, enabling tens of thousands of designers, engineers and production specialists to collaborate continuously and seamlessly around the world.
