Capvidia Releases FaceWorks 2.0 for Complete Mold Design within SolidWorks

Leuven, Belgium, February 15, 2002- Capvidia announces the release of FaceWorks 2.0 add-in to SolidWorks for Mold Design. FaceWorks extends the SolidWorks solid modeling capabilities with powerful surface operations and structures the mold design process.

FaceWorks combines the power of standard SolidWorks with functions designed to simplify tooling and manufacturing applications on 3D CAD models. FaceWorks uses the latest SolidWorks user interface concepts (property page) providing smooth integration into the SolidWorks environment. Users benefit from standard SolidWorks functions complemented with specialized easy to use tools simplifying the tool-making process dramatically and minimizing costs and manufacturing times.

Innovative Functions

Parting Line Generation: The parting line is automatically generated in such a way that it always forms a closed loop. Problematic segments such undercuts are automatically split and assigned to respective core or cavity. Additional changes can be easily introduced using standard SolidWorks commands. 

Optimal Parting Surface Generation: The parting surface is automatically generated using a sophisticated approximation algorithm. The user defines the surface propagation direction and the surface type 2.5D or 3D. The parting surface can be easily exported to other CAD systems. 

Dynamic Animation � Using a slide control, you can visualize the mold opening. 

Closing of Openings � Automatic closing of openings through curve selection. 

Core/Cavity Generation � Generate editable core and cavity solids. 

Native format support: Optional modules for reading native files (CATIA 4, CADDS, P/E 200i2/2001). 

Inserts: Automatic insert design with user defined shape.
