CADCAM-E Enhances Product Suite with New ACIS and Parasolid Translators

(Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA -- February 4, 2002) CADCAM-E has announced the availability of four new CAD/CAM translations solutions, each of which can be downloaded from the www.cadcam-e.com web site at no charge and accessed on a per-use basis without purchasing software. The four new solutions provide CATIA to Parasolids, Pro/ENGINEER to Parasolids, CATIA to ACIS and Pro/ENGINEER to ACIS translations. Each of the new products runs on Windows NT or Windows 2000 and eliminates the need for purchasing a high-end CAD system license. This approach is ideal for subcontractors because the cost of the translation can usually be charged to the customer's project.

The new PS/CAT translator reads CATIA Export and Model files up to version 4. x and writes Parasolid files from Version 10 through Version 12. The PS/PRO translator reads Pro/ENGINEER part files up to version 2001 Date Code 2001150 and writes Parasolid files from Version 10 through 13. The ACIS/CAT translator reads CATIA Export and Model files up to Version 4.x and writes ACIS files from Version 5 through 6. The ACIS/PRO translator reads Pro/ENGINEER Part files up to Version 2001 Data Code 2001150 and writes ACIS files from Version 5 through 6. All four new products convert all 3D data from the source system that is supported by the target system. Both PS/CAT and ACIS/CAT translators include a free viewer to selectively translate CATIA data. PS/CAT and PS/PRO replace the CIMSE-Cat and CIMSW-Pro solutions.

CADCAM-E's web site delivers interoperability solutions to the user's desktop over the web. The user simply registers for the service, downloads the translation software and installs it on their desktop. Running the conversion application on the desktop provides the fastest conversion speed. In addition to these new translators, CADCAM-E also offers a wide range of conversion solutions between CATIA, Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Mastercam and Mechanical Desktop systems and PARASOLID, ACIS, IGES and STEP formats.

CADCAM-E also offers a wide range of services targeted at engineering and manufacturing organizations as well as independent software vendors. The company's engineers can economically perform translations, particularly those involving feature-based solids, that can't be cost-effectively automated. They can also provide legacy data conversion, 3D design and drafting, computer-aided engineering, manufacturability studies, data conversion and distribution to the supply chain and the development of web-based engineering applications. The company also offers licensable components for reading and writing CAD files independent of the CAD systems that created them. These components can be embedded in software packages to provide seamless interoperability with most any CAD system. The company also provides custom programming to customer specifications.
