Cimmetry's AutoVue 16 Supports the DirectModel JT Format

Recently the market has expressed a strong need to view and manipulate native 3D CAD data in a thin-client, web-based environment. AutoVue SolidModel for Java (16) delivers this functionality and supports hundreds of formats including Pro/E, CATIA, Unigraphics, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, IGES, .JT, etc.

The DirectModel format .JT was developed by EAI and Hewlett-Packard as an efficient format for the visualization of large 3D models. The format has known some success as the main visualization format for the EAI products. Some large corporations have generated libraries of documents maintained in this format and have expressed an interest in having AutoVue support the .JT format.

AutoVue is designed to provide users with the visualization method they require while maximizing speeds over any level of bandwidth. Users can choose to view the original .JT file streamed to their client machines, or alternately generate and view a Cimmetry Metafile (CMF). The CMF file is extremely lightweight and maximizes transfer speeds. After a CMF is generated it can be cached on the server, with future requests for the document resulting in the efficient CMF file being streamed over the Internet or intranet to the client. The AutoVue for Java client provides viewing and 3D manipulation, including rotation, zoom, pan, sectioning, precise measurement, exploding of assemblies, lighting control and more.

Customers who are using the .JT visualization format now have another option when selecting the visualization client most suited to their needs. AutoVue SolidModel provides the viewing functionality required by most users and, in supporting .JT, provides for automatic effortless migration from one system to another. AutoVue products are unique in that they are out-of-the-box applications and do not require complex, time-consuming and expensive integration processes.

AutoVue SolidModel (16) will be available in both a thick-client Windows edition as well as a server-based thin-client Java version. Both versions are virtually identical in functionality and support the most popular 2D and 3D CAD formats on the market including Pro/E, CATIA, Unigraphics, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, AutoCAD, MicroStation, IGES, STEP and hundreds more. Most common raster, vector, hybrid and office formats are supported as well. Format support is provided without requiring that copies of the authoring applications be installed on either the client machines or the server.
