Buhler Selects Autodesk Inventor to Support High-Performance Tractor Design

Major Acquisition Creates Business Case for Autodesk Manufacturing Solution to Increase Efficiency, Lower Total Cost of Ownership

SAN RAFAEL, California - December 6, 2001 - Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) today announced that Winnipeg-based Buhler Industries Inc., a leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of agricultural equipment, has selected the Autodesk Inventor product as the preferred 3D mechanical design software for its Versatile Tractor manufacturing operation. According to Min Lee, Chief Information Officer, Buhler Industries Inc., the company's decision was driven by the need to standardize on a single CAD platform following its acquisition*in July 2000*of the Versatile Tractor operation from New Holland Canada Ltd. Different CAD systems used by the two companies to design products made communication and file sharing extremely inefficient and were a drain on productivity. In addition, the high cost of ownership of New Holland Canada's existing platform was proving increasingly prohibitive. Buhler evaluated a number of competitive products but went with Autodesk Inventor software for its ease of use, rich functionality, and ability to leverage Buhler's existing engineering system.

"Designing and building world-class tractors demands best-of-breed technology that not only simplifies the design process, but also accelerates it and makes it easier to manage," said Lee. "Autodesk Inventor is easy to use, and it also provided us with the degree of functionality we needed to create exceptional products and deliver them quickly to market." "Competitive advantage in the manufacturing industry is as much about time to market as it is about the quality of your product," said Robert Kross, vice president of the Manufacturing Division at Autodesk. "The groundbreaking Autodesk Inventor adaptive technology is providing Buhler with the ability to create cutting-edge designs faster and with less cost, while allowing the company to streamline its engineering design processes, thereby ensuring even greater efficiency gains."

Autodesk worked closely with its local reseller partner CAD/CAM Solutions to deliver the optimal solution for Buhler's design challenges.
