VectorWorks, Industry Series 9.5 Released Product Line Fully Compatible with OS X
COLOMBIA, Maryland - December 6, 2001- After a summer of speculation and anticipation, Nemetschek North America announced today that their beta testing process is complete and that VectorWorks, RenderWorks, ARCHITECT, SPOTLIGHT and LANDMARK 9.5 are now available. Company officials stated that in addition to the fact that these updates are the first versions of VectorWorks to run natively under Mac OS X, they offer dramatic improvements in speed and reliability. The VectorWorks and Industry Series updates are free downloads for all registered VectorWorks 9 users. The 9.5 updates offer all VectorWorks users numerous fixes and enhancements, which were brought about through rigorous beta testing conducted publicly from the company's website. "We knew that by having a public beta we would be able to identify scores of bugs that would go unnoticed in our controlled environment. By testing publicly, we are able to address important issues, such as printing, as a result of the many combinations of factors that open testing can produce," remarked Sean Flaherty, CTO, Nemetschek North America. Addressed specifically in the 9.5 VectorWorks and its Industry Series are printing, stability and speed issues. Users will find extensive speed improvements in the areas of hidden line rendering, symbol manipulation, switching sheets and printing. Long-time VectorWorks users will also be pleased to know that the Trim command has returned in its original form in 9. 5. Flaherty further explained the significance of the 9.5 updates to the Mac community, "OS X represents a technological breakthrough in Apple's Mac development. Our longtime Mac users will be impressed with the robustness, as well as the significant interface enhancements that OS X offers." The 9.5 VectorWorks Industry Series takes advantage of Mac OS X's new aqua interface, as well as advanced features such as protected memory, preemptive multitasking, advanced memory management, and symmetric multiprocessing. Nemetschek North America acknowledges that a good portion of its installed base does not have the required bandwidth to download the 9.5 updates. Those users should visit the company website to request the update on a CD that will be mailed directly to them. Nemetschek North America (formerly Diehl Graphsoft) is a wholly owned subsidiary of European software giant Nemetschek AG. A global leader in design technologies, Nemetschek N.A. has developed CAD software for the personal computer since 1985.
