Less Than 50 Business Days to AutoCAD Release 14 Upgrade Deadline
SYDNEY, Australia - November 19, 2001 - AutoCAD customers using Release 14 will no longer be eligible for the upgrade pricing of AU$2,524.50 after January 15, 2002 and customers who have not upgraded by this date will have to purchase AutoCAD 2002 at the full commercial seat price of AU$7,249. Autodesk support for AutoCAD Release 14 and related products will expire on January 31, 2002, however, certain technical solutions for AutoCAD Release 14 will remain in a knowledgebase at www.autodesk.com/support after the deadline date. AutoCAD Release 14 is four years old and has undergone three major upgrades: AutoCAD 2000, AutoCAD 2000i and most recently AutoCAD 2002. Launched in June this year, AutoCAD 2002 is Autodesk's next generation design software and the foundation for industry specific design solutions, including Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3 for the building industry, Autodesk Land Desktop 3 and Autodesk Map 5 for the GIS industry, and AutoCAD Mechanical 6 and Autodesk Mechanical Desktop 6 for the manufacturing industry. "The latest release, AutoCAD 2002 is a dramatic leap forward from Release 14," explains Andre Pravaz, Regional Director, Autodesk, Southeast Asia Pacific. "Customers can expect significant speed improvements, a simplified user interface, improved 3D, and enhanced online communication and collaboration to enable Internet driven design." Pravaz added, "There are customers in Australia and New Zealand still actively using AutoCAD Release 14 and we are doing everything possible to make the upgrade as simple as possible." To make it easier for customers to stay up-to-date and to budget for upgrades, Autodesk will establish a subscription-based program by mid-2002. For an annual fee, customers will get the latest versions of their licensed Autodesk software plus feature-enhancing modular extensions, e-Learning training for those extensions, and more, providing easier budgeting and eliminating upgrade disruptions. To join this program customers must be on the latest release of the relevant product.
