NavisWorks 2 Offers Major Enhancements in VisualisationNew 'Presenter' product addresses architectural and design needs
SHEFFIELD, UK - September 26, 2001 - LightWork Design, the world's leading supplier of quality advanced computer graphics software for rendering, simulation and visualisation solutions, today announced its latest interactive 3D design review solution, NavisWorks 2. NavisWorks 2 includes a distinct new product, Presenter, which combines NavisWorks' navigation and collaboration capabilities with new features to help AEC design professionals preview and present, with realistic visuals for fast and effective client review. An interactive review solution for even the largest 3D models, NavisWorks enables anyone, anywhere to visualise and comment on a design in progress as it can be used on a standard specification PC. It is especially easy to use so that the whole project team, including both architects and clients can review the model in real time. Presenter users will be able to drag and drop materials and textures from a palette onto the NavisWorks scene, instantly bringing models closer to life. For example, construction materials such as a selection of brick, glass or a range of metals can be tried on a project model - and quickly changed during a meeting, if necessary. Over 200 pre-defined materials will be supplied and others can be simply created from a range of material templates. "Presenter provides support throughout the constantly evolving design process, allowing architects and designers to quickly review 'what-if scenarios' on their laptop and communicate the results for instant feedback. To improve the effectiveness of this process, textures and materials can be changed on the spot for quick and interactive preview, without time-consuming and more technical processes," explains Peter Thompson, manager, NavisWorks business unit. "We've listened to the views of architects and designers in particular in the development of NavisWorks 2. Presenter complements existing products within the NavisWorks suite. We believe it will broaden even further its use within the AEC sector, enhancing collaboration by allowing the whole design team to communicate ideas. Plus, it's simple enough for non-technical users to use." NavisWorks 2 also introduces a NavisWorks Application Programming Interface (API), which for the first time, enables any user with Visual Basic programming skills to enhance and customise their NavisWorks environments. Other new features include readers that allow users to access non-graphical object information from Autodesk ADT .dwg files and also MicroStation .dgn files directly.
