WAYLAND, Mass - September 20, 2001 - Moldflow Corporation (Nasdaq:MFLO), world leader in software solutions for optimizing the design and manufacture of plastic products announces the creation of the Moldflow Center for Professional Development (MCPD).

The MCPD offers a comprehensive selection of training classes for Moldflow products. Class delivery methods include traditional instructor-led training (ILT) as well as live web-based seminars. Students have the option to choose different training methods, tools, and technologies to help overcome the barriers to training such as distance, budget, time constraints, and scheduling conflicts. The extensive, 15-month classroom calendar allows users to determine when their schedules will permit ILT or web-based courses.

"We have developed a comprehensive array of training methods and tools to complement traditional classroom training," says Stephen Thompson, Moldflow's Global Training Manager. "Moldflow's diverse combination of training methods addresses a wide range of experience levels and learning styles. The MCPD is an aggressive attempt to adapt training to changing lifestyles and workplace environments and adds a formal level of Moldflow testing and certification."

The Moldflow Center for Professional Development offers formal certification to customers that complete Moldflow training courses and demonstrate their proficiency in a written exam. The program's comprehensive testing measures a wide range of skills and Moldflow product knowledge. The certification credentials add value for customers and assure their customers the highest level of expertise. For example, with Analysis Level 2 certification, which covers MPI 3.0 Flow, Cool, Warp and Fiber products, customers can optimize part design to a higher degree by considering the additional effects of cooling, packing, warpage and fiber orientation.

The company recently conducted its first web-based seminar for Moldflow Mold Adviser users. Steve Steffes, Sr. Design Engineer, CertainTeed Molded Products Corporation, noted, "We registered for Moldflow's web-based Mold Adviser seminar because we wanted to become current on the latest tips and techniques for using the software without spending a lot of time and money traveling to an off-site training location. The seminar was time well spent. The session was very easy to access and the leader did a great job of presenting the material and keeping the audience engaged throughout the six-hour, comprehensive session."

Thompson adds, "Many web-based training programs fail because the experience must be treated very differently than traditional face to face training. For the six-hour Mold Adviser web-based training session, we developed a CD-ROM that contained all of the labs, exercises, and the 250-slide PowerPoint presentation that was delivered on-line the day of the training. We shipped the CDs to registered students prior to the event. So if a student lost their Internet connection during the seminar, they could still follow along on-line and listen on the telephone."

MCPD benefits include:

  • Affordability -- Web seminars don't incur travel costs or on-site training fees
  • Skill set improvement -- Human resource departments can access training calendar to determine classes to help bolster employee job performance
  • Well-defined objectives -- Class descriptions have beenenhanced and include class objectives, appropriate audiences, course pre-requisites, and instructors.
