New MicroStation Utility Offers Surefire Way to Link Huge Spreadsheets!
CLEARWATER, Florida - September 13, 2001 - Axiom, the world's largest independent developer of MicroStation utilities, recently announced the release of a major upgrade of Microsoft Office Importer - -the company's utility that pastes huge amounts of spreadsheet and word processing data to MicroStation with excellent formatting. Microsoft Office Importer 3.0 now allows MicroStation users to link spreadsheet and word processing data to MicroStation files. Additionally, Microsoft Office Importer 3.0 can automatically update the linked data every time the MicroStation file containing the link is opened - no user intervention required! Incredibly useful to MicroStation users is Microsoft Office Importer's recently added capability to paste huge amounts of spreadsheet and word processing data to MicroStation. Tests done found no problem in pasting an Excel spreadsheet containing 14 columns and 700 rows of data with a single paste. In addition, Microsoft Office Importer's advanced formatting capabilities intelligently handle text height and width, text alignment, font face, character bolding, italicizing and underlining, spreadsheet cell borders (in MicroStation) and more, producing data that closely approximates the appearance of the data in the source spreadsheet or word processing files. New feature - updating data while working in MicroStation filesIn addition to updating linked spreadsheet or word processing data every time a MicroStation file is opened, Microsoft Office Importer 3.0 also allows users to update linked data manually - that is to say, while working in a design file. Four simple mouse clicks and the linked data is updated with the last modifications saved in the source file. New feature - displaying the file paths to source filesAt the click of a button, Microsoft Office Importer 3.0 allows users to display the file path pointing to the source file to which the spreadsheet data [in a MicroStation file] is linked. The path information along with the link type [whether automatic or manual] is displayed above the linked data. New feature - link managementA link manager is included with Microsoft Office Importer 3.0. At the click of a button, the link manager allows users to edit the source files of the linked data [in the software application of the source file]; change links from manual to automatic and vice versa; and unlink links without the side-effect of unselectable elements.
