New SimplePDM Software Version Offers Direct Communication with ERP or MRP systems

MAYVILLE, WI - September 6, 2001 - Custom Programming Unlimited (CPU), a SolidWorks Solution Partner, announces Version 6.60 of its premier product, SimplePDM. SimplePDM is an easy-to-use document revision control solution for SolidWorks files and other Windows-based documents, and an engineering change notices (ECN) management software package. The latest revision offers direct communication with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.

New enhancements in SimplePDM allow companies to build in their business rules. Companies set the rules, and SimplePDM acts as a watchdog, actively policing the system. SimplePDM automates ERP information entry, and insures consistent processes. The end result - fewer engineering errors and increased productivity.

SimplePDM's innovative new features include:

• Automation of data entry into the ERP system for new bill of materials (BOM) items, as well as changes in revision and quantity.
• Alignment of BOM item numbers to the item numbers in the ERP system. (for example, obsolete items in a SolidWorks� software assembly drawing will show as obsolete in the ERP).
• Engineering staff can now use ECN tools to document changes in all documents related to the ECN.
• Identifies documents that have changed, which projects have been affected, as well as where additions, changes, deletions, and temporary authorizations have been noted.
• Updated electronic distribution of ECN/non-ECNs to the appropriate personnel for processing, review, and electronic signatures. Support documents can be e-routed to assist in informed decision-making.
• Provides an audit trail for temporary sign-offs from the shop floor.
