Bayside Automation Completes SI Baker Automated Prescription System Installation

CANONSBURG, Pa - August 30, 2001 - Bayside Automation, a leading supplier of automation systems and manufacturing product/process consulting services, today announces that it completed a fully automated, prescription packaging module for SI Baker, a product division of McKesson HBOC.

The latest SI Baker system is designed to accommodate SI Baker's high volume, mail order pharmacy business.

Bayside Automation engineers integrated several off-the-shelf technologies to enable an automated bagger and printer/folder machine to operate as one, single unit. The system facilitates the bagger device to open the mail order prescription bag, the printer/folder to fold the associated paperwork and drop it in the bag, and the bagger to seal the bag for shipment to mail order customers. The latest Bayside-designed and installed unit can fill 4,800 orders per shift and will be installed at a large California-based automated pharmacy.
