PlanetCAD Annoucnes New Release of DesignQA for Unigraphics Solutions

Many New Features and Functionalities in Version 4.1

DETROIT - August 28, 2001 - PlanetCAD Inc. (AMEX-PCD), a leading developer of Cycle Time Reduction software solutions for the manufacturing supply chain, today announced the release of DesignQA version 4.1 for Unigraphics. DesignQA 4.1 allows Unigraphics users to establish and maintain higher quality design practices - saving time, reducing model rework and creating high-quality CAD models.

DesignQA is the industry's leading engineering quality assurance software. It detects, assesses, corrects and prevents product development errors caused by inaccurate, incomplete or inconsistent design modeling practices. We have received confirmation from current customers that DesignQA saved them more than 12 percent in engineering project costs, and DesignQA 4.1 for Unigraphics has already been used and approved during testing by one of our existing customers - a major aerospace manufacturer.

Unigraphics Solutions (UGS) is a major industry vendor, employing over 2,200 employees worldwide. UGS supplies a customer base of over 9,200 companies with leading products such as Solid Edge and Parasolid.

DesignQA 4.1 improves on the leading design quality software with the addition of 18 new design standards, including the popular Engineering Checklist. The checklist automates the process of tracking the list of items that a designer must complete for each phase of the design release process. The checklist is fully customizable and is stored in the model as a permanent record. The capability to add custom fields to the quality metrics data captured by DesignQA is also included. The additional capability provides greater flexibility to collect or subdivide quality metrics data to more easily pinpoint key issues and drive process improvements with DriveQA.

Features in DesignQA 4.1 include the following:

• 18 new standards
• Standards file versioning, password protection and quality stamping in support of supply chain management
• Improvements in usability to customize the sizing, sorting, etc. of the configurator and results browser
• Profile options that allow the administrator to limit the user run panel options
• Expanded data segregation capabilities when analyzing quality metrics through custom field support
