IronCAD, LLC and CAXA Announce Jointly Developed 3D Design ProductCAXA Solid Targets Design Productivity and Innovation in China
ATLANTA, GA., - August 28, 2001 - IronCAD, LLC, the innovation leader in productive solid modeling, today announced that CAXA, China's largest CAD/CAM software and service provider, has released CAXA Solid, a new 3D design system based on IRONCAD technology. The software integrates CAXA's surface modeling and localized 2D drawing standards technology with IRONCAD's unique 3D architecture and numerous award winning patented technologies, creating a comprehensive new solution for China's mechanical product development needs and CAXA's installed base of over 50,000 customers. Increasing international outsourcing of manufacturing to China, combined with the inevitability of China joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), is forcing Chinese enterprises to become more globally competitive. According to Dr. Lei, president of CAXA, "To win against global competition, China's companies need to respond quickly to changing markets, develop innovative new products and improve productivity. Our customers need advanced technology which addresses a broad spectrum of collaboration and creation needs--from conceptual design and detail design to the downstream use of design data for manufacturing, product specification and marketing. The solution must also provide easy Internet-based collaboration so Chinese companies can work well with their partners around the world. We chose IRONCAD as a basis for CAXA Solid because it provides innovative technology for all these needs." In addition to selecting a solution that could be used throughout the product creation process, CAXA put a high priority on technology that would be easy for designers, general engineers and others to use. Joe Walsh, VP of Worldwide Sales at IronCAD, explains why IRONCAD was the ease-of-use choice: "Most of today's CAD systems are based on parametric technology developed in the 1980's that requires users to have a great deal of CAD knowledge and training. This traditional technology is good for building the 3D models needed for detail design but not good for creative, conceptual or collaborative design which requires unconstrained modeling techniques and intuitive, visual interaction. CAXA needed both constrained and non-constrained technology, so the best choice was IRONCAD." CAXA Solid incorporates many of IronCAD's revolutionary CAD technologies, such as drag-and-drop modeling, the TriBall and customizable catalogs. Dr Lei adds, "Our new CAXA Solid solution provides the most productive, flexible, and easy-to-use modeling environment available in China. It enables any user, from engineers to manufacturing to marketing, to be truly innovative." CAXA Solid is the first product introduced as a result of the strategic partnership between IronCAD, LLC and CAXA, announced August 8, 2001. About CAXACAXA currently holds the largest market share in China's CAD/CAM software and service market and has been chosen as a Chinese "Ten Best Local-Made Software" company for the past 4 years. The company focuses on developing and implementing professional CAD/CAM software for small-to-mid-size companies and personal users. Its emphasis on ease-of-use has resulted in broad acceptance and market dominance for its CAD software. In addition, CAXA is a major CAM software vendor in the Chinese NC control market. About IronCAD, LLCBased in Atlanta, GA, IronCAD, LLC is a leading provider of innovative design solutions that deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction and productivity.
